Unlocking the power of collaboration in your plan-to-deliver processes
SAP Business Network Planning Collaboration
Staying ahead of change
To meet the needs of dynamic markets, you must res-
pond quickly to changing circumstances. Integrating the
SAP Integrated Business Planning (SAP IBP) for Supply
Chain solution with the SAP Business Network Planning
Collaboration solution enables digitalized collaboration and
transparency. With these solutions, you and your trading
partners can share requirements and commitments in a
more efficient and timely manner across your plan-to-deliver
processes. This results in better visibility, enabling you to
flexibly manage supply, fill rates, and buffer stock. Further,
automated processes help streamline workflows to increase
productivity and agility, while AI-driven supply planning in
SAP IBP allows you to improve your supply chain plans by
intelligently reflecting the impact of supplier constraints.
Connecting SAP IBP with trading partner systems
You can use SAP Business Network to share information from
SAP IBP with your trading partners, who can then respond
with their ability to commit to the demand plan. This enables
you to automatically share digitalized forecast information
with your trading partners. There are two common scenarios,
depending on whether a full bill-of-materials explosion
is required. Typically, planners require a bill-of-materials
explosion (including semi-finished goods, components, raw
materials, and so on) if they are procuring supplies directly
from tier-two suppliers or external manufacturers and
packagers. This scenario is illustrated in Figure 1.
In the second scenario, planners do not require a full
bill-of-materials explosion because they are not pro-
curing a substantial portion of the product components.
For example, they may rely on contract manufacturers
to provide the manufacturing, assembly, and upstream
supplier relationships. In this case, they may procure only
a few materials from tier-two suppliers. This scenario is
illustrated in Figure 2.
