SAP Joule for Developers comprises all design-time AI capabilities that assist developers to create apps and extensions. These do not encompass any runtime or end-user AI capabilities that are used outside of the development tools for SAP Build and ABAP. Examples of included capabilities are code generation, unit test generation, and code explanation. Examples of capabilities not included are SAP Document AI, SAP AI Core, and AI capabilities in SAP Build Work Zone.

The ABAP custom code migration capabilities are designed to accelerate the transformation of custom code from classic SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA Cloud with fast, efficient analysis and adaptation tools. Key capabilities include:

  • Documentation Chat: Get quick, accurate answers to SAP S/4HANA questions, including guidance on simplifications.

  • ABAP Program Explain: Understand the business purpose and processing logic of legacy code faster to support smooth adaptation.

  • Issue Explain: Quickly diagnose and resolve SAP S/4HANA–related ABAP test cockpit issues with contextual insights from simplification items, cookbooks, and technical documentation.

We're offering free access to Joule capabilities for developers using SAP Build and ABAP Development Tools. The only requirement to access SAP Joule for Developers is accepting the SAP AI Terms.

 

Here’s how to enable Joule across SAP development tools:

  • SAP Build Code: Joule is enabled by default when you sign up for the service—no additional steps required.

  • SAP Build Process Automation and SAP Build Apps: You can enable AI capabilities from the SAP Build lobby. Simply review and accept the SAP AI Terms when prompted.

  • ABAP Environment: To access Joule in ABAP capabilities, contact your account executive to obtain the free license (for customers - SKU ID: 8019124, for partners – SKU ID: 8019541). The capabilities will be enabled within 48 hours of purchase. Ensure you have the required authorizations before use.

Note: For customers with existing activation of Joule for Developers: ABAP AI capabilities, the free offer will need to be re-ordered using the same SKU ID for it to remain valid.
