Increase in bytes consumed each month Manual data pulls required, enhancing the
time to value for analytics
Availability of high-quality financial planning
and analysis data
10,000
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Fewer Higher
As part of its commitment to government
accountability, transparency, and cost-efficiency
during a time of shrinking budgets and rising needs,
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania wanted to make
better use of its data to improve decision-making.
The first use case was focused on revamping its
ability to produce and distribute real-time,
management-focused analysis of employee expense
reports.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania identified
additional data fields crucial for its user experience
in SAP Concur solutions. Collaborating closely with
experts from partner TSC and SAP, the organization
mapped and developed custom extracts through
SAP BTP – all within 100 days. This included using
SAP Integration Suite to create a proof of concept
for automating data extraction between SAP Concur
solutions and the SAP Datasphere solution and
enhancing analytics with the SAP Analytics Cloud
solution.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania witnessed an
immediate and notable rise in monthly data
consumption. Business owners praised the reporting
as "10x better than ever." The solution sparked
heightened interest in SAP BTP, especially SAP
Datasphere, and is driving broader engagement and
adoption. This surge reflects a pivotal moment in
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s shift toward a
digital government strategy – fostering essential
skills for the evolution.

• Integration and data silos: State and local governments
grapple with disjointed systems and siloed data, hindering
efficient service delivery and comprehensive insights.
• Policy overload: State and local agencies confront the
daunting task of navigating through vast volumes of existing
policies, extensive documents, and supplementary content to
meet service demands amidst workforce limitations.
• Service demand outstripping workforce: Escalating service
requirements are compounded by a diminishing workforce,
intensifying the need for innovative solutions to bridge the gap
in service provision.
• Rising citizen expectations: Increasing demand for swift,
digital-enabled interactions – requiring a reevaluation of
fragmented systems and disconnected data landscapes and the
adoption of efficient technologies and practices
• Data fragmentation: Managing extensive volumes of data
across various SAP and third-party systems without a
centralized source of trustworthy data for streamlined reporting
• Financial information discrepancies: Time-consuming
reconciliation of financial information from multiple sources
during meetings, highlighting the need for a single source of
real-time truth
