Facing fierce competition from incoming international
manufacturers, El Araby needed to modernize outdated
business communication methods that included
exchanging paper spreadsheets and volumes of e-mails
with data from information silos across their complex
operations. With plans for expansion, El Araby realized
they needed to speed up decision-making by enabling
non-IT staff through digitized, real-time, dashboard data
views into production, warehouse inventory, ordering,
shipping, and many other functional areas. Additionally,
they needed to effectively manage supply chain (15K +
suppliers) costs, negotiations and delays impacting
production schedules.
Built on SAP S/4HANA, El Araby’s digital transformation
today leverages large data volumes in real-time from
materials, sales and distribution, customer service,
environment, health and safety, extended warehouse,
production planning and quality, project, plant
maintenance, fleet, automatic table maintenance, and
human capital management systems. Integrated with
SAP Business Network Global Track and Trace, SAP
Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain (SAP
IBP), and SAP Analytics Cloud, the overall solution
drives smooth El Araby operations – from sourcing raw
materials, plant production to final product distribution –
by delivering accessible, transparent and accurate
planning capabilities from the cloud.
Today, El Araby and its industry partners, customers,
suppliers and employees are infinitely benefiting from
their digitized business-to-business connectivity powered
by SAP. With instant visibility into manufacturing
production, inventory, demand, operations, and their
supply chain, El Araby is enabled to make faster
decisions and respond more quickly to market changes.
By optimizing production planning and scheduling that
are critical, when demand fluctuations and seasonal
trends require agile and flexible production processes, El
Araby is reducing lead times, lowering inventory costs,
and improving overall supply chain efficiency.

GLOBAL CHALLENGES BUSINESS CHALLENGES
Challenges and Objectives 1 of 2
© 2023 SAP SE or an SAP affiliate company. All rights reserved | PUBLIC 5
• Supply Chain Vulnerability: Manufacturing and electronics
sectors rely significantly on complex international supply
chains. Natural disasters, geopolitical unrest, and
unanticipated events disrupt production processes.
• Technical adaptation strain: The industry is characterized by
rapid technical improvements. Research and development
expenditures must be sustained to remain competitive; this
necessitates rapid technological adaptation.
• Intense global competition: Sustaining market share and
differentiation requires constant innovation to beat fierce
competition from established and new markets.
• Regulatory and security difficulties: Industry regulations
necessitate product certifications, safety requirements, and
environmental standards. The protection of intellectual property
is challenging, since counterfeiting, fraud and cyber risks are
on the rise.
International competition is fierce with new factories and plants
opening in Egypt.
Turkish, Chinese, German and other internationals are also
competing to manufacture well-known brands.
Adopting new, advanced technologies and driving advanced
international standards of excellence will continue to shape El
Araby’s market positioning during the coming years – especially as
technology, innovation and digital transformation are key players for
their success.
