Joule Work mobile app requires Internet access to function and exchange data. Offline capabilities are supported through separate native or offline-enabled apps.

Joule Work mobile app supports secure single sign-on (SSO) using SAML or OIDC and integrates with common identity providers (IdPs) such as SAP IAS, Microsoft Azure AD, Okta, Ping and ADFS. It works with mobile device management (MDM) and unified endpoint management (UEM) for conditional access, app protection and remote wipe. Security is further defined by backend authorisations, content security policy and SAP BTP or SAP Build Work Zone settings to determine the final security posture. Once configured, users can securely access SAP applications without repeated log ins.

Joule Work mobile app is a native mobile experience that provides push notifications, a consolidated task inbox, app shortcuts, deep linking, smoother navigation and access to device features such as cameras, scanners and widgets. SAP Fiori launchpad is a web-based portal that is only available on mobile devices through a browser.

SAP Build Work Zone, standard edition is a good choice for core portal capabilities such as content aggregation, personalisation and basic mobile scenarios.

 

The advanced edition is better suited for more complex landscapes, such as microapps, custom widgets, richer connectors, scripting, governance and enterprise-scale integrations.

Yes, you can control what individual users see in the Joule Work mobile app based on roles and permissions. Content visibility can be managed through backend roles (such as SAP S/4HANA or SAP Gateway), SAP BTP role collections, SAP Build Work Zone group rules and identity provider (IdP) group or claim mappings. This allows you to target content by user, role, department or pilot cohort. User provisioning and role changes are managed through your IdP and SAP BTP configuration.

You can integrate a wide range of applications into the Joule Work mobile app, including SAP S/4HANA content, such as standard SAP Fiori and SAPUI5 apps, customised web apps, third‑party web apps, microapps and native mobile apps (SAP or third‑party) that support URL-based scheme launching.

 

Some integrations may require SAP BTP or SAP Build Work Zone connectors, minor configuration or development or updates to CSP/SSO settings. Embedding behaviour and SSO access depend on your security policies and identity provider configuration.
