Osaka Metro began operating in 2018 following the privatization of the Osaka Municipal Subway, which had run for over 80 years. After the privatization, the company introduced SAP ERP (ECC 6.0) as its new accounting system. However, an unorganized coding system, inaccurate budget-to-results management, and inefficient, overly individualized Excel-based work spurred a system overhaul using SAP S/4HANA® Cloud Private Edition. Following the cutover in April 2023, just one year after the deployment project had begun, revised workflows have eliminated 80 percent of add-ons. For its next step, the rail operator is aiming for greater business management accuracy through business intelligence (BI) tools and other measures.
