A new monitoring view in the SAP BW/4HANA
Administration Cockpit provides a holistic view on
Process Chains and their consumption of system
resources i.e.:
• Average CPU Usage (ABAP)
A list of process chains, sorted by the average CPU usage
caused by processes in ABAP.
• Average Peak Memory (ABAP)
A list of process chains, sorted by the average peak memory
usage caused by processes in ABAP.
• Average CPU Usage (Database)
A list of process chains, sorted by the average CPU usage

Advanced DataStore Object (ADSO) – Merge Mode
Switching between Smart-Merge and Auto-Merge
• Whenever data is loaded to SAP BW/4HANA the Delta
Index is updated.
• Due to performance reasons the Delta index should not
become too big and should be merged with the Main Index
regularly
• The Merge Mode controls when the Merge of the Delta
Index with the Main Index of an ADSO is performed.
• In the technical Settings of an ADSO the Merge mode can
be set (Smart Merge or Auto Merge)
• SAP BW/4HANA proposes per default a setting for the
Merge Mode
NEW: Merge Mode can be set manually if it turns out that a change of this setting increases performance.
Admin can decide if the usage of Auto Merge or Smart Merge or both is required.
