When the Brazilian arm of China-based Yuan Longping High-Tech Agriculture Co. Ltd. sought to eliminate performance issues in its local operations, it migrated to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition through the RISE with SAP journey. Yuan Longping High-Tech Agriculture Co. Ltd. is a global seed company headquartered in China and present in eight countries. Named in honor of Yuan Longping, a pioneering researcher on plant genetics and father of hybrid rice, the company is part of the CITIC Group, the largest business conglomerate in China. Putting down roots in Brazil in 2017, the company now manages a portfolio in the corn and sorghum hybrid segment that has placed it among the leaders in the Brazilian market. And through the company’s constant investments in R&D, its brands, including Morgan, Forseed, and Tevo, are known for offering stability and high production potential.
With Longping High-Tech’s operations in Brazil experiencing delays when running reports and making commercial transactions, the São Paulo–based business decided the time was right to upgrade its business systems. To overcome communication latency issues, the company determined the right approach would be to move to a private cloud.

Using expert services to smooth the migration and minimize downtime
Having made the decision to take the RISE with SAP journey to migrate to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, the company set out to learn more about operating its business in the managed cloud environment. Longping High-Tech decided the best approach was to work with an experienced partner with proven expertise in managing ERP migrations to the cloud, so it opted to collaborate with SAP gold partner Mignow Technology Ltda.
Gustavo Martins, information systems specialist at Longping High-Tech, was central to the partner selection process. To configure the advanced ERP in the cloud, the company prioritized financial accounting, treasury, controlling, and project system modules as well as materials management, sales and distribution, production planning, quality management, and plant maintenance.
The Private Cloud Customer Center team from the SAP Enterprise Cloud Services organization took charge of service delivery as part of the migration journey. Providing a digital delivery engagement model, Private Cloud Customer Center offers 24-hour access to experts from SAP during the workweek and 24x7 access for critical incidents, in addition to an extensive library of self-service support.
Service delivery support included transferring from a production system to a quality system and shoring up system stability. The team also coordinated migration activities with Longping High-Tech’s internal network team for VPN modifications, mitigating user-access challenges. And to prevent disruptions to productive systems due to missing certificate updates, the team took charge of handling certificate renewals and kept the implementation on track by preventing delays in system downtime.

Sowing more success from new data and insights
Samuel Zaniboni Christoforo, information technology system specialist at Longping High-Tech, comments on the benefits of RISE with SAP: “Today, support is much easier and problem solving is more agile through a dedicated customer success partner that gives us tips on how best to operate in the new environment.”
He adds, “The team works proactively and monitors our operations, so if there’s a problem, they tell us, giving us more confidence in the environment. And another change for the better is that all our production sites can now access the cloud ERP solution directly, greatly reducing the problem of dropped links.”
In terms of other tangible benefits, performance issues are a thing of the past. Using RISE with SAP also provides an increased level of system security compared to its legacy environment, with SAP responsible for proactively monitoring and managing the company’s technology landscape security. And thanks to more data transparency, consistency, and reliability provided by cloud ERP, the company was able to successfully complete the external audit process within the deadline.
Longping High-Tech is also making use of the availability of data that it’s never had access to before and taking advantage of new functionality such as the credit management feature. This provides many streamlined processes, including automated credit analysis, which means its people no longer need to perform this task, enabling orders to be released for sale faster.
Innovating with AI on SAP Business Technology Platform
Since SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition through RISE with SAP is now live, Longping High-Tech is looking to use the SAP Fiori user experience to make day-to-day operations in the SAP system more intuitive. It’s also planning to make processes more accessible and agile on mobile devices with SAP Fiori apps.
Another priority for the company involves developing use cases for SAP Business Technology Platform and using it to simplify and automate workflow processes while experimenting with new functionalities such as machine learning and process automation.
