force across industries, accelerating innovation,
efficiency, and progress toward sustainability
objectives. Yet, alongside these opportunities come
new environmental and societal challenges. As AI
becomes deeply embedded in products, services, and
operations, its energy and resource demands are
growing rapidly, adding measurable pressure to global
sustainability goals. Likewise, the rapid pace of
innovation in AI raises concerns about its impact on
human welfare and society.
Introduction
Achieving a net positive environmental and societal
impact - where the benefits of AI outweigh its costs -
has therefore become an essential dimension of
responsible AI deployment. Sustainability is core to
SAP’s AI-First and Suite-First strategy. SAP believes that
AI can unlock boundless potential for businesses,
governments, and society. As AI grows in impact, we
must ensure that AI is created and used sustainably -
