Catalog Types
▪ PunchOut catalogs allow customers to access catalog content residing on the supplier’s e-commerce website.
Value-added features used on the supplier’s eCommerce site, such as real-time availability and eQuotes, can
also be leveraged.
▪ Due to the nature of this catalog type, there is more complexity in configuration. Suppliers must have the
infrastructure and tools necessary for cXML PunchOut transactions.
SAP Business Network supports 2 types of PunchOut catalogs:
▪ PunchOut Level 1 (Supplier level) ▪ PunchOut Level 2 (Supplier’s product level)
The PunchOut Level 1 (L1) Index template only displays the supplier to the customer’s end
users. Below is an example of a PunchOut L1 template.

PunchOut Level 1 View
This is how a search result for a PunchOut catalog item is
displayed in the standard catalog interface of a Buyer by
drilling down to the category, or getting a search result.
The PunchOut icon tells you that this is an external
catalog, as well as the “Buy From Supplier” button.

When you click the “Buy From Supplier” button, you are taken to the supplier’s website, where you search and
add items to the website’s shopping Cart, then return them to SAP Business Network.
You are on
the Supplier’s site,
but still within the
SAP Ariba catalog.
You can click here to
close the PunchOut
session and return.
PunchOut Level 1 View
When you click the “Buy From Supplier” button, you are taken to the supplier’s website, where you search and
add items to the website’s shopping Cart, then return them to SAP Business Network.
You are on
the Supplier’s site,
but still within the
SAP Ariba catalog.
You can click here to

PunchOut Level 2 View
▪ PunchOut Level 2 (L2) catalogs allow customers to
access catalog content hosted on the supplier’s e-
commerce website. This is initiated from a product
level.
▪ This is how a search result for a PunchOut L2
catalog item is displayed in the standard catalog
interface. It looks just like a static catalog but has
the punchout icon “Buy From Supplier” button,
rather than “Add to Cart”.
▪ Similar to PunchOut L1, clicking the “Buy From
Supplier” button initiates the PunchOut.

access catalog content hosted on the supplier’s e-
commerce website. This is initiated from a product
level.
