SAP Enable Now Helps Organizations Improve Efficiency,Increase Adoption, And Save CostsSAP Enable Now supports seamless knowledge transfer and productivity gains for SAPusers across an organization. Robust tools in SAP Enable Now allow content creatorsto easily generate enablement resources. At the same time, the platform equips endusers with in-application assistance, which can empower them to work more accuratelyand efficiently.SAP commissioned Forrester Consulting to interview 13 representatives and conduct aTotal Economic Impact (TEI) study to better understand the benefits, costs, and risksassociated with SAP Learning Hub and SAP Enable Now.1 This abstract will focus onthe interviewees’ use of SAP Enable Now and its value to their organizations. Amongthe interviewees, all 13 used SAP Enable Now.Return on investment (ROI)309%Net present value$4.9MInterviewees said that prior to using SAP Enable Now, their organizations relied onlegacy approaches to provide training and enablement content for SAP end users.Content was often difficult to access, outdated, and not available in-application.Meanwhile, client-side training teams faced limited functionality in their available toolsand found it time-consuming to create and update content. These limitations led toknowledge gaps and inefficiencies for end users and training teams alike.Interviewees reported that after the investment in SAP Enable Now, their organization’sworkforce became more knowledgeable, confident, and productive. Key results from theinvestment include faster time to competence for end users, more efficient contentcreation, cost savings, and greater project success.
SAP Enable Now saves a lot of time for the endusers themselves. It also makes it much easierfor our people creating the content. There aresavings on both sides.”DIRECTOR OF L&D, CONSUMER GOODSINVESTMENT DRIVERS FOR SAP ENABLE NOWBefore deploying SAP Enable Now, interviewees noted their organizations relied onlegacy approaches to deliver training and enablement resources. Content for SAP endusers was often created and consumed without specialized tools. When tools wereavailable, they failed to provide end users with smooth in-application assistance or theability for training teams to easily create and update content. The interviewees’organizations struggled with these common challenges: Fragmented experiences for end users and low adoption rates. Interviewees’organizations had documentation and resources for end users, but they wereoften outdated and not accessible directly in-application in preferred formats.Usage tailed off as content was not updated and increasingly not trusted by endusers. The people leader in transportation said, “Content was not widely used,and we also had the issue that it wasn’t very compatible to our SAP models.” Ineffective content. Enablement content that was dated and difficult to accessultimately rendered it ineffective for end users. Moreover, training teams found itdifficult to remedy these problems because content creation was a largelymanual and tedious process. The training lead in natural resources said: “[Myorganization’s legacy solution] was a very clunky piece of software. It was noteasy to publish content without going through hoops.
Desire to increase employee productivity. Interviewees’ organizations wantedtools that empowered SAP users with the knowledge and skills to accurately andefficiently perform their jobs. Interviewees said this would contribute to theirorganizations’ long-term strength and competitive edge.SAP Enable Now provides a huge benefit, and itshould really be a central component of any SAPimplementation.”TRAINING LEAD, NATURAL RESOURCESKEY RESULTS FOR ORGANIZATIONS USING SAP ENABLE NOWThe results of the investment for the interviewees' organizations include:Faster time to competence by 50% for end users. Each interviewee highlighted thata primary benefit of SAP Enable Now is the time it saves for end users. Providingupdated resources and assistance in the flow of their work reduced initial training needsand improved the efficiency with which ongoing work was executed. In addition to thesetime savings, interviewees reported that the improved ease of use with SAP EnableNow contributed to higher adoption rates. At the composite organization, there is 50%faster time to competence on average for SAP Enable Now end users. Interviewees explained that the key value proposition of SAP Enable Now for endusers is that the content is clear, updated, and embedded in the flow of theirwork. The change management consultant in manufacturing concluded: “SAPEnable Now really puts the power of knowledge in people’s hands. It allows themto get what they need when they need it.
Interviewees described SAP Enable Now as flexible and simple to use acrosssystems and processes. They said the platform accommodates different learningstyles on the needed device. For instance, simulations were sometimes preferredwhile written work instructions were more effective other times. In addition tothese, common content formats in SAP Enable Now included slides, documentfiles, PDFs, and practice sessions. Multiple interviewees deemed the in-app help with SAP Companion within SAPEnable Now to be a “game changer.” The people leader in transportation added:“The great business value of SAP Enable Now is performance support. You havethe in-built SAP Companion. You can click the question mark and get helpdirectly. It really helps our people. It’s just in time when they need the information.It’s the most powerful functionality in the system. Interviewees said the ongoing performance support in SAP Enable Now that isalways available for end users ultimately makes them more efficient as theyperform their daily work. The training lead in natural resources explained: “SAPEnable Now is for the end users to access content quickly. The idea is that it’sthe right content and digestible just in time and just enough. SAP Enable Now also reduced the total training time needed at interviewees’organizations, and training that did occur could focus more on high-levelconcepts. For specific tasks, employees could instead rely on step-by-stepguided tours in SAP Enable Now. For example, interviewees said training onlytaught the basics of entering a sales order or creating a purchase requisition, butin-app guided tours walked through the process step-by-step.SAP Enable Now significantly reduced thenumber of training hours in many cases. More efficient content creation by 75%. Interviewees explained that with SAP EnableNow, the creation of training and enablement content used by end users was an easierand more automated process. They said the improved efficiency was driven by SAPEnable Now capabilities such as automatically generating multiple formats from onesource, workflows, modularized updates, prebuilt content, and empowering morebusiness leads to create content. With SAP Enable Now, there is a 75% time savingsfor content creators at the composite organization. Content creation approaches at interviewees’ organizations prior to using SAPEnable Now were often cumbersome and involved collating screenshots as wellas drawn out beautifying and approval protocol. Interviewees reported a drasticreduction in the time needed with SAP Enable Now. The people leader intransportation said, “With SAP Enable Now, content creation is super fast. Multiple interviewees specified that a top benefit of SAP Enable Now is havingthe ability to generate several formats from one effort. For example, intervieweesdescribed using SAP Enable Now to create a recording in 15 minutes that couldthen automatically generate a series of different formats, such as simulations,slides, PDFs, and practices, to accommodate varying use cases and learningstyles. The senior training specialist in energy identified the ability to easily record andcreate simulations as a top differentiator of SAP Enable Now: “You can start therecording feature of SAP Enable Now and perform the task as normal. ... Whenyou stop the recording, SAP Enable Now has created for you a step-by-stepwalkthrough of the process. This is, in my opinion, best in class.All the SAP Enable Now features are gold. Onethat’s very helpful is creating so many contentformats with just one recording. ...
