Frequently asked questions

Log in to your supplier account. An internet connection and a web browser are the only requirements. See a list of supported browsers.

To establish the connection with your customer on SAP Business Network, you need to have both a supplier account and an invitation to transact from your customer. Two scenarios are possible:

  1. Receive an invitation to transact (either through a Trading Relationship Request, or from an interactive purchase order), inviting you to create a new account or connect to an existing one.
  2. Create a new supplier account from https://supplier.ariba.com, then share the account number ID with your customer so they can establish the trading relationship.

There is no limit to the number of documents you can transact via SAP Business Network. If you have an enterprise account, fees may apply according to the volume of documents and transactions.

Most suppliers on the network transact for free under one of these two scenarios:

  1. They transact at the standard account level, exchanging an unlimited number of documents with their customers but with limited functionality. Most of these are new or low-volume suppliers.
  2. They upgrade to the enterprise account level and are fully enabled in network functionality but are subject to fees only after reaching a certain threshold of transaction volume.

SAP Business Network uses the UNSPSC standard for category classification. You can look up codes for specific items on the UNSPSC website.

Consider the following when picking the best product and service categories for your company:

• Be general. Search as non-specifically as possible. For example, search "stands" instead of "Wrought iron plant stands with dolphin designs" to help you efficiently pick a commodity.

• Use layman's terms. Your industry-specific knowledge and vocabulary helps you describe an individual product or service but can hinder how searchable you are for potential buyers.
