TRIM SUITE can help you to optimize the trim from stock even when quality issues in the supply are detected. Defect areas on mother reels on stock - for example from coating - which are detected by camera inspection or other means are considered when the trim is planned. In this screenshot defect areas are indicated by the color black. Areas which are not used due to close defects are indicated by the color grey. Yellow indicates left over areas (trim loss). The light red lines indicate splices within mother reels.

In all cases the main target of optimization is minimizing loss. But we can also consider other targets. You can maximize yield or minimize overproduction when quantity is not fix by utilizing tolerances. You can set you optimization target to minimize storage costs if orders are trimmed ahead of required date. You are able to set targets to minimize knife changes. This helps you to reduce setup cost. An additional measure to reduce setup time is to avoiding changes in output width. Furthermore you are able to make Trim utilize stock elements before they age beyond their "best before“ date. Or if your production schedule is in trouble you may consider requirement dates to minimize delay.
