Vestas: Revolutionizing Supplier Quality
Management Through Digital Innovation
Vestas is a global leader in sustainable energy solutions, designing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing wind
turbines worldwide. Headquartered in Denmark with operations across multiple continents, Vestas has installed
+200 GW of wind energy in over 88 countries and maintains a workforce of 35,000+ employees dedicated to
advancing renewable energy technology.
As the world’s leading wind energy company, Vestas faced significant operational challenges in managing
supplier quality processes across its complex global supply chain. The company needed to modernize its
Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to efficiently qualify materials from external suppliers while maintaining
the stringent quality standards essential for wind energy applications. Manual processes created bottlenecks in
supplier collaboration and quality approvals, limiting the company’s ability to scale operations while ensuring
excellence in renewable energy component manufacturing.
To address these challenges and support continued growth in the expanding renewable energy sector, Vestas
urgently needed a robust, integrated digital solution to streamline supplier quality management, enhance
collaboration capabilities, and maintain its position as the global leader in sustainable wind power technology.

“Thanks to SAP IPD, we established collaboration between cross-functional
teams that assure advanced quality planning in one database and one
system to approve the purchased items. We reduced the time required for
reporting the approval status in the projects significantly.”
