What new research from The Economist reveals for HR leaders heading into 2027
AI is moving faster than most workforces are ready for — and closing that gap is shaping up to be HR's defining opportunity. The companies that get ahead of it now will be the ones setting the pace on hiring, skills, and workforce planning.
The gap is real and it's already visible: new research from The Economist of midsize companies finds that 51% of executives say AI adoption is outpacing workforce change, 54% of HR leaders name workforce skills as the area least prepared for AI transformation, and only 9% of these companies have managed to advance both in parallel.
