Daniel's Story

At SAP, we believe that when you bring everything you are, you can become everything you want.

One area I get very excited about is when I get the chance to have contact with customers. The discussion with them to understand their needs and be able to build the best solutions for them is very interesting and challenging.

Daniel Hauser

Daniel Hauser is a Software Development Expert based at SAP’s Tägewilen office in Switzerland - but is the only Swiss person on his team.

"I live a 15-minute drive from the office, so sometimes I cycle to work. Mountain biking is a passion of mine. As the office is very close to the German border, many of my colleagues are German. One of the things I love about working for a global company like SAP is that I meet so many people from around the world, not just our German neighbors!

One of the best experiences I have had at SAP is getting the chance to visit our American colleagues in Scottsdale (Arizona). It was wonderful to see them face-to-face and be able to go for lunch with them. After that visit, the contact and communication to these people was much better than before. I also got the opportunity to go on a weekend motorbike trip whilst I was there, so in addition to the office I got to see the nice region they are living in.

In my role as software development expert I do everything from requirements analysis, testing, implementation to documentation. Since we do almost everything in pair programming (except requirements analysis and documentation), I can teach our junior teammates through work very easily.

I like the diversified aspects of my job. One area I get very excited about is when I get the chance to have contact with customers. The discussion with them to understand their needs and be able to build the best solutions for them is very interesting and challenging.

I wasn’t always excited by SAP though! When I completed my studies, I visited a careers fair with different potential employers. SAP was as well one of these. But at that time, I decided not to go with SAP.

I started working for Simulation Analysis and Forecasting which developed the main calculation modules for the famous Forecast & Replenishment program of SAP. With the takeover of Simulation Analysis and Forecasting as a new location of SAP, I got to be part of the SAP family, and since fate brought me to this lovely company, I am very happy to work with all my wonderful colleagues.

In addition to travel, mountain biking and motorcycling, outside of work my biggest passion is playing my euphonium in a band. This involves one band rehearsal a week and about 10 live performances a year."
