Take care of your health: five tips to build resilience

Resilience is the capacity to cope with and become stronger as a result of experiencing and dealing with difficult events. Strengthening resilience combines building inner strength with applying personal strength to challenging situations.

  • Write down important thoughts and ideas. By writing what you want from a situation, you have a better chance of achieving it.
  • Always imagine everything positively. If your imagination is positive and pictures a positive outcome, your brain reacts in a more positive way with better outcomes.
  • Practice positive self-affirmation. Positive self-talk impacts your motivation and is key to influencing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
  • Build commitment, trust, and engagement with others. These behaviors reinforce positive attributes such as attentiveness, flexibility, reliability, and the ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Reinforce a new habit or behavior as frequently as you can. When you wish to adopt new habits that strengthen your resilience, you need to reinforce them several times.

Manage your stress wisely: 10 tips to step out of the stress zone

The early warning signs of stress are your body’s alarm bell for taking action. Recognize the signs and take them seriously:

  • Sleeping difficulties – exhaustion, insomnia
  • Physical complaints – headache, heartbeat disorders, pain in
    the back, neck, or stomach
  • Changing social behavior – withdrawal, irritability, impatience
  • Shifting attitude – negativity, sarcasm, low spirits, high sensitivity
  • Changes in achievement level – slower working pace, more
    mistakes, less commitment
10 tips to step out of the stress zone:
  • Know your sources of stress.
  • Keep a stress diary.
  • Put things into perspective.
  • Practice healthy eating and drinking. 
  • Integrate physical activity every day.
  • Get seven to nine hours of sleep every night.
  • Practice mindfulness techniques.
  • Talk with someone you trust. 
  • Manage your time wisely.
  • Learn to meet your own needs appropriately.

Maintaining positive mental health: five tips for emotional well-being

In many ways, mental health is just like physical health: everybody has it, and we need to take care of it. We all have times when we feel down, stressed, or frightened.

  • Get healthy distance and manage stress. Step back and change perspectives, and find ways to cope with stress.
  • Do something you enjoy daily. Make time for doing things you enjoy, such as going for a walk, reading a book, meeting friends virtually, and so on.
  • Take care of your body’s basic needs. Eat and sleep well, drink lots of water, and exercise regularly.
  • Recognize when you are not feeling good. Watch warning signals, such as sleeping disorders, physical complaints, and a change in attitude.
  • Ask for help when you feel worried or overwhelmed. Seek help as soon as possible.

Together as ONE

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, SAP Labs Network shot a special video to share the belief that Together as ONE we will emerge stronger from this crisis. The beautiful song used in the video was composed by 1001 Music Lab (one employee club in SAP Labs China) showcases the team spirit and collaboration across many countries to over come this global challenge together.

A Song of Solidarity

The pandemic may have transitioned SAP employees out of the office, but our spirit remains very much united. SAP Labs Israel employees recorded a song, “We’re all in this together”, to show that even when physically apart, our support for each other only grows stronger in challenging times. And despite working from home, we remain connected as one team in a virtual workplace.
