Gerardo's story

At SAP, we build breakthroughs, together.

I had the opportunity to rotate in my current team during the year of the Academy program. This rotation opened the doors for me to a new board area, gave me the possibility to broaden my network and show my work to the managers.

Gerardo Lindacher Echeverria,
Graduate of the SAP Academy for Business Transformation 2020/21

Briefly describe your journey at SAP so far.

I started in 2018 as a working student while studying my master’s degree. I was working for one year in the area of Digital Supply Chain and my goal back then was to learn, get to know the company and the working culture as much as possible. In 2020, I had the opportunity to join the SAP Academy for Business Transformation as a fulltime employee. In 2021 I graduated from the Academy and joined the Industries and Customer Advisory Unit, which is my current unit.

What are you currently doing? How do you describe your role to friends?

Currently I´m in the Transformation and GTM team from the Industries and Customer Advisory unit. My focus in the Transformation team is to help the unit achieve our strategy and ambitions by transforming our overall business. As a unit, we support multiple sales and customer facing teams, enabling them to share and show the real value of the SAP solutions.

How could the SAP Academy for Business Transformation contribute to opening up this path for you? What tip would you like to share with early talent?

I had the opportunity to rotate in my current team during the year of the Academy program. This rotation opened the doors for me to a new board area, gave me the possibility to broaden my network and show my work to the managers. At the end of this rotation, the manager contacted me and shared his wishes that I join the team after the program. This was only possible because of the rotating possibilities, the accelerated learning curve and exposure that the program offers.

My recommendation for early talents would be that they expose themselves actively to a diverse set of topics and broaden the network of colleagues from the beginning. Raise the hand, learn as much as you can from everybody and every topic. Join coffee corners, extracurricular activities, and All-hands meetings. The best way to develop yourself is by being proactive.
