Head of Product Customer Success Operations
At SAP, we believe that when you bring everything you are, you can become everything you want.
I am deeply convinced that it is exactly that type of diversity – diversity in skills and knowledge as well as the diversity in our underlying ethical and cultural fundaments – that enables us also in all aspects to look at complex problems from different perspectives and ultimately come up with better solutions. Without SAP I would have never had the learning curve I have now.
Rami works for Business Process Intelligence (BPI) in Berlin, having joined SAP in 2013 as a developer.
I’m half Canadian and half German and have spent most of my life living in Berlin. I am one of the rare “real Berliners”!
At Business Process Intelligence we are currently building one of SAP’s newest and hottest products which will help our customers to understand and optimize their processes. I am responsible for operations and customer success. My job is making sure that our customers are happy and that we establish a customer first mindset throughout the organization through the right objectives and key results, tools, methodologies and culture.
There is no typical workday for me as each day comes with new challenges. It actually never gets boring and I can always experience new things and constantly learn. What I like about Business Process Intelligence is the start-up atmosphere inside a big company, the challenges and the people!
The first time I heard about SAP was back in university in a database course. I joined in 2013 as a Developer, what attracted me the most at SAP was the culture and the people. A little-known secret: I left SAP in 2016 to join another company and to found my own company as I wanted to experience something else. I was always drawn back to SAP because of it’s amazing culture and all the friends I made, and still have, within SAP.
Multiple people helped me to shape my career especially my former managers and every single colleague I worked with. I love the SAP culture because everybody treats everyone with respect, and we have a transparent culture where everyone is able to provide constructive feedback. I also believe diversity is the foundation of a good culture. Without it we cannot be successful as human beings or as a company.
Some years ago, I had the opportunity to talk to one of Germany’s top security experts. He told me that he is able to tell a developer’s origin from the bugs that he or she would find inside a program. I did not believe him until I started working with different developers from all around the world.
As a manager at Business Process Intelligence, I am regularly confronted with complex challenges, which can be solved in numerous ways. Finding the right solution depends on my educational background and professional experience. Yet, my skills and knowledge are defined and guided by the cultural, ethical and social values I was taught while growing up. They all determine how I look at obstacles and how I approach them. When I joined SAP, I had almost no work experience. However – my managers and colleagues still trusted me to make well educated decisions on my own. They celebrated mistakes and taught me how to make sure to learn from them.
Outside of work I am a drummer and I love hiking. SAP not only allows me to have a healthy work-life balance, but the culture embraces it. At SAP it is not a problem to work part time or to pursue your hobbies – even if they would normally collide with your workday. This ispossible because of flexible work hours everybody has at SAP.
