Silicon Valley Next Talent Program

Explore. Develop. Impact. Launch your career by diving into the vast, innovative SAP world in our 18-month, full-time rotational program: Silicon Valley Next Talent (SVNT). This exploration and career accelerator for recent graduates has opportunities in development and data science. You will be joining a talented community of tech innovators, you will experience impactful, project-based work, tailored trainings, and networking opportunities with executives; all while you explore your passions through SAP’s array of teams, industries, and technologies across our four Bay Area offices.

The three essential pillars of the program

Rotations

Rotate between 2-3 different teams in 6-month rotations

 

Learning

Establish a solid foundation of knowledge, understanding, and experience through tailored learning and development. Including 2 week onboarding, ongoing learning sprints, and meet-ups that are curated specifically for the program, and a headquarters training in Germany

Co-Innovation

Collaborate with other program participants on ideas and launch projects that have the potential to impact and optimize SAP processes

Who joins the program?
  • Silicon Valley Next Talent Program participants are recent undergraduates and graduates with experience and interest in engineering, development and data science.
  • Participants join the program in one of these disciplines but come from diverse backgrounds as innovative thinkers and doers who share a passion for making the world run simple.

Other than rotation work, what else does the program provide?
  • Beyond rotations, the Next Talent Program provides 4 weeks of formal trainings where participants will learn about SAP’s history, business goals, and meet with their future managers.
  • Once a month, there is a fireside chat with influential members of SAP who give insight into their experience and line of business at SAP.
  • There are strategic projects completed in groups which tackle design and business challenges to prepare participants with the SAP knowledge and skills to become SAP business ready.

How long is the program and each rotation?
  • The SAP Next Talent Program was created with the intent to support each participant in designing and customizing his or her career path.
  • In the 18 month of the program, participants undergo 2-3 rotations that are each 6 months in length.
  • Participants will be considered for FTE roles throughout and at the end of the program.
  • Participants may obtain an FTE in a team before the end of the 18 months

When does the program start
  • Silicon Valley Next Talent program has 2 cohorts, January and July
  • Specific start dates are defined in the job description
  • Participants must start on outlined start date, no exceptions

Who should apply to the program?
  • Graduates with experience and interest in development and data science who have graduated less than a year before the start date
  • Graduates who are completely done with school by the Jan or July start date

Does SVNT provide sponsorship and relocation?
  • Yes, SVNT provides sponsorship on a case by case basis, however participants must have valid work authorization in the US for the entirety of the program
  • No, SVNT does not provide relocation

  • After a successful completion of the program, participants will join the team that best suits their strengths and interests.

What kind of teams are participants placed on?
  • Participants are matched with teams across SAP, including teams focused on cloud delivery, customer experience, travel, retail solutions, and more.
  • Each participant’s manager will be the SVNT lead who will coach and mentor throughout the program to develop soft and technical skills.
  • Participants will also meet with their rotation manager and buddy to establish a project timeline and receive day to day feedback and guidance on completing the project(s).
  • Participants will be placed on early-stage to mature teams within SAP's Product and Innovation organization in areas such as Internet of Things, Cloud, and User Experience.
  • Each participant will meet with their managers and be assigned a buddy who will work closely as a mentor and ensure an easy transition into their respective team.

What will the day-to-day look like?
  • Participants are full members of their rotation teams and are expected to attend team meetings and offsites if applicable.
  • In general, participants will work on diverse teams, in which they will experience a balance of independent work, team collaboration, and strategic projects.

How do I choose my rotations?
  • Each rotation is chosen by a mutual agreement by the future rotation manager and the SVNT participant.
  • For the first rotation, each participant will have a few conversations with possible teams and managers to get a feel for what the work might be like.
  • Going forward, the participants can reach out to teams to converse about what a rotation might look like and reach a mutual agreement.
