KOPGT also provides sales and marketing services for thefarmers, sharing knowledge on how to reduce postservice losses and helping farmersparticipate in the production cycle for oil palm.Through its work, KOPGT actively helps individuals move from subsistence farming intocommercial oil palm farming, significantly improving their livelihoods. As more farmers joinedthe organization, it was important for KOPGT to have a robust sourcing and traceabilitysystem linked to its business management data. The goal was to enable more efficiency andeffectiveness in its service delivery while empowering farmers with data-driven insights tomake more-informed decisions.

To deliver theseimportant insights, KOPGT integrated the SAP Rural Sourcing Management solution withthe SAP Business One solution. SAP Rural Sourcing Management, an industry cloudsolution, also helps the organization comply with Uganda’s national guidelines formonitoring farmer plantings and areas of plantings by making data more transparent.KOPGT is also making use of garden mapping functionality offered by SAP Rural SourcingManagement to understand the yield potential of each garden and monitor productionactivity. As farmers need to repay government loans, by keeping gardens at maximumproduction capacity, farmers are able to harvest maximum yields. And by allowing theorganization’s team to gather and manage data for analysis and decision-making, KOPGThas a clear overview of individual farmer performance for benchmarking and productivitytracking to support loan financing and repayment cycles.
