Relieve the SAP server and transfer control of the print job to the external OMS
Communication between the spooler and the output devices is outsourced to the external output management system. This is a highly specialized system designed to manage print jobs and communicate with printers and other output systems. It sends detailed status messages about the printers and the print jobs to the SAP spooler.
Check the current status of your print job in the SAP spool in real time
The Output Management System communicates with both the SAP servers (via callback) and the printers that are to print the jobs. The OMS sends detailed status messages about jobs and printers to the sending SAP spooler. The sender receives a detailed job status in the SAP spooler in real time.
Expand your print workflows with plug-ins
The OMS can use plugins that perform additional functions. Examples: Barcode plugin (for printing barcodes) and Unicode plugin (for printing international characters such as Kanji). The web-based application runs on the OMS server and allows you to fully manage SAP ROMs, LOMs, and printers. The app also supports a selection of device types, printers, and SAP servers for changes, and connects different SAP servers. Changes are transferred to all SAP servers in a single step.
Configure multiple SAP servers for communication with the external OMS
The external output managment System can simultaniously communicate with multiple SAP servers. It recognizes print job sent by a particular SAP server and sends the status information to the sending SAP server. There is no limitation in the number of SAP servers which can be connected to the OMS.
Define favored device types on the app
The web-based app on the OMS allows you to define preferred device types your company uses, so you don't have to scroll through hundreds of device types to assign one to a certain printer or printers.
