Wipro wanted to increase the productivity of its consultant workforce, increasing employees’ efficiency as they work with complex SAP solution implementations. The company also hoped to showcase its AI capabilities to customers and prospects, improving its competitive advantage.

Bringing together purpose and progress
Wipro deployed the SAP Joule for Consultants solution, a conversational AI offering that accelerates cloud transformations from SAP. The AI-enabled solution offers expert guidance from SAP’s exclusive and expertly curated knowledge base, helping consultants, systems integrators, and IT teams implement and maintain deployments of SAP applications.
SAP Joule for Consultants uses generative AI to create tailored instructions for SAP software implementations. Using natural language to access the knowledge base of implementation data at SAP, consultants can substantially reduce search time, interpret custom code faster, and eliminate the need to sift through the data manually.
Phase one of the deployment rolled out the solution to 1,000 Wipro consultants. Proactive early engagement and parallel functional and commercial workstreams got the project off to a fast start. The deployment was supported by strong executive sponsorship, which enabled expedited decision-making throughout the implementation.

Improving consultants’ efficiency with AI
The pilot deployment of SAP Joule for Consultants is helping Wipro increase productivity and business performance. The solution saves consultants 90 minutes per day by offering AI-enabled insights, accelerating the interpretation of custom code, and enabling faster searches for documentation and guidance.
“SAP Joule for Consultants helps us reduce employee effort by 40% from a development standpoint and about 25% from a rework standpoint,” explains Srinivas Sai Nidadhavolu, vice president and global SAP practice head at Wipro. “This savings equals 30,000 hours a day across the business, or more than seven million hours annually.”
Now consultants can focus on innovation and servicing clients, rather than on searching for information. They can also use their newfound AI expertise to demonstrate the capabilities of SAP Business AI solutions to Wipro customers.
Soon, Wipro will roll out SAP Joule for Consultants to the remaining 11,000 consultants working on projects involving SAP solutions. As the AI capabilities increase consultants’ efficiency across the deployment of SAP solutions, streamline project planning and execution, and accelerate the project lifecycle, the offering can also help the company support important societal programs.
