A subsidiary of Access Medical Systems Ltd., ET Healthcare Technology (Suzhou) Co. has installed its automated immunoassay systems in over a thousand hospitals across China. Under the Gator Bio brand, the company’s molecular interaction analyzer has also gained recognition from numerous biology laboratories worldwide.

 

In a sector characterized by intense competition and high technological complexity, high-frequency product iteration is key to exceeding customer expectations. Following the consecutive launch of three new products, ET Healthcare’s product shipments had increased by 40% year-over-year. However, the simultaneous growth in product variants and order volume led to an exponential rise in supply chain complexity.

 

Additionally, as orders for Gator Bio are delivered as integrated solutions, the complexity of pricing and cost accounting continued to rise. However, the existing management system was limited to basic inventory records and could not support analysis for specific market segments. Cost accounting required manual consolidation of multiple reports, causing both accuracy and responsiveness to fall behind the pace of the company’s business development.

 

To help it navigate this, ET Healthcare looked for a more efficient and stable digital management foundation. A key requirement was support for managing increasing regulation in China’s medical device market. The company needed to adapt to regional variations in healthcare insurance policies, which often differ from city to city. It wanted a solution that would help it effectively monitor business processes and help ensure adherence to regulatory requirements—mitigating legal risks, reducing potential financial losses, avoiding legal disputes, and safeguarding ET Healthcare’s reputation.

Powering growth with a next-generation ERP solution and SAP Services and Support

After multiple rounds of evaluation by both management and key users, ET Healthcare implemented an SAP Cloud ERP solution. The system supports operations across multiple brands and business lines, establishing a more streamlined, efficient, and comprehensive business management foundation.

 

As the SAP Cloud ERP solution was still in its early release stage, ET Healthcare opted for implementation by SAP Services and Support to help ensure a smooth rollout. To address anticipated short-term shipment fluctuations, experts from SAP Services and Support reorganized and standardized customer, regional, and contract information across all product lines. They also integrated several previously isolated processes—from warehouse shipping and sales invoice generation to accounting voucher creation and routine cost tracking. This enabled automatic triggering and completion of the processes.

 

Built-in market segmentation functionality within SAP Cloud ERP addressed ET Healthcare’s need for granular management by city and customer type. Based on predefined segmentation rules, the system can automatically generate performance reports linked to specific personnel and distributors. All data in these reports is directly tied to order documentation, enabling quick contract lookups and accurate reconstruction of the pricing process, including fluctuations in raw material costs across different production batches.

 

To maintain both system version stability and operational continuity amid rapid business growth, ET Healthcare needed to establish a sustainable, reusable methodology for updates. To this end, the company used SAP Services and Support to provide support for strategic planning and risk assessment for version upgrades. This delivers optimized configuration and process guidance for critical scenarios, as well as long-term assurance in issue response and operational stability. Leveraging SAP Services and Support, ET Healthcare has not only enhanced system adoption and operational efficiency but also strengthened organizational resilience to sustain high-speed growth amid complex business demands.

Enhancing cloud innovation capabilities

Supported by SAP Cloud ERP, ET Healthcare has successfully navigated multiple business-critical challenges, including production line expansion and order surges. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a sharp rise in infection rates led to an abrupt spike in demand for in vitro testing. The implementation of SAP Cloud ERP enabled ET Healthcare to efficiently manage and fulfill the massive influx of orders during this critical period.

 

Since the initial implementation, ET Healthcare has continuously updated and enhanced SAP Cloud ERP. Supported by SAP Services and Support, ET Healthcare receives ongoing guidance throughout the entire lifecycle—from version readiness and feature activation to the adoption of best practices and operational optimization. To date, SAP Services and Support has delivered over 50 expert service sessions, covering upgrade and change management guidance, key scenario configuration, user training, and best practice sharing. This helps ensure that the ERP system’s capabilities remain fully aligned with the company’s business growth.

 

With help from SAP Services and Support, ET Healthcare has rapidly adopted new capabilities—including the consolidation reporting module and event-based production accounting—allowing users to benefit from cloud innovations with a shorter adoption path. In addition, standardized processes and targeted guidance from SAP Services and Support were invaluable to achieving a smooth transition when the company opened a new facility in Suzhou Industrial Park.
