My Picks and Why
I work on logistics modules like manufacturing, quality, and extended warehouse management, so I wanted to learn and know more about what's new as well as what changes are going to happen in supply chain technology.
This keynote is a comprehensive glance at the SAP product portfolio. Learn how SAP business applications work together to help connect fragmented processes and data end to end.

My Picks and Why
As customers start using SAP Business Application Studio, there is always some level of learning while using a new tool. I’d like to get a better understanding of this development environment while building full-stack applications. I am also interested in learning tips and improvements compared to SAP Web IDE.
Analytics are everywhere. Most of us who work in technical roles always have to deal with data and analytics. I have done a few blogs on comparing charting libraries against the SAPUI5 charts. I would like to learn about other scenarios from other developers and use cases.
Mobility is the way of doing everything from business to personal tasks. Enterprise mobility on SAP Business Technology Platform means customers become more productive on the go, and that is an area where I would like to help my customers benefit.
Danielle has worked in the human capital management (HCM) space for more than 25 years and currently serves as an active SAP mentor and confidant for SAP SuccessFactors solutions (roles appointed by SAP and SAP SuccessFactors solutions respectively). She travels the globe speaking with customers and at conferences to share the latest technology advancements in HCM and reporting and analytics. My Picks and Why
I picked sessions with a focus on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). SAP BTP is really an amazing opportunity for customers and partners and it’s easy to get lost in the technical details of it all. I know our human experience management (HXM) customers can leverage what is available within SAP BTP and that it will open up new areas of innovation for them. My first choice session is a fundamental introduction to SAP BTP. I recommend this starter session for anyone keen to understand the capabilities and predefined business content and services within SAP BTP and how it can support their business goals.
One of the great things about SAP TechEd is the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops. I picked this one on SAP BTP because it will give me a chance to start from the beginning with a concrete use case and then develop it forward. I’m also keen to get some hands-on experience working with the SAP Discovery Center site.
I’m excited to learn more about the practical application of building extensions for SAP BTP including transforming data into business value and extending current solutions more quickly. In the old-school way of doing this, you were required to have plenty of technical skills to enhance the software. This new opportunity to enhance, develop, and deploy with SAP BTP is exciting for those of us who wish to create repeatable business use cases easily. I’m excited about this practical lesson so I can use SAP BTP to build a comprehensive extension application for SAP S/4HANA that can later be improved with other services for SAP BTP.
Wouter started as a developer for the ABAP programming language, grew into the Web Dynpro development environment, and made the move to SAPUI5 from the very beginning. He's always looking into innovate by using the newest SAP technology, which was what brought him to SAP BTP. With the experience Wouter gained from different SAP platforms and technologies, he became an SAP solution architect. Wouter loves combining architecture with complex coding challenges!
My Picks and Why
SAP BTP is the most precious element in the SAP landscape of the future. Many customers already use SAP BTP, many more are starting to use it, and others will make the move soon. It is the key to innovating with low cost and effort (nothing to install or hardware needed) without any risks for productive systems. Therefore, it is essential to understand how it works by having a look "under the hood."
SAP Launchpad service is the newest technology when it comes to SAP Fiori apps. As a staunch believer in SAP Fiori, it is important to know what this new service has to offer to understand the added value. Besides that, I see many customers facing problems with providing a single point of access. These problems could be solved with SAP Launchpad service. I hope this workshop will show me some new features that will help customers move to SAP Launchpad service.
ABAP was and still is the most beloved language in the SAP world. It is, without any question, super important to stay up to date with the latest improvements of ABAP. A workshop is the best way to test these new improvements yourself.
Chris is an SAP mentor and vocal commentator on SAP SuccessFactors solutions. He loves new technology and especially "all this cloud stuff," as it also touches on his fluffy HR skill set. He will ask awkward and enlightening questions with a smile. You will be unlikely to be left wondering what he thinks about any topic. A self-professed HR geek, he will happily talk your ear off about the possibilities of technology and HR solutions. Don’t ask him about blockchain.
My Picks and Why
Well, it should be pretty obvious why this is my top pick – it's because I'm presenting! This should be a fun session where SAP will ask, "What are the issues customers have when using identity solutions from SAP?" We talk about the problems and the solutions. I love it when SAP is open about customer issues and then tries to help address them.
This session has both Thomas Saueressig and Meg Bear – I mean, what else do you want? Yes, it will be high level and probably have some marketecture slides in there, but it's also likely to be awesome! I really hope that they use some of the market research from the SAP research team to explain why SAP is going in certain directions here.
Funny how the hands-on version of this session is rated beginner, but this one is advanced! Either way, with the announcement of Embedded Steampunk for SAP S/4HANA Cloud solutions (especially public cloud), the desire to build enhancements using ABAP rather than the other tools on SAP BTP is going to be huge. (Why pay extra to host an enhancement when you already have a place you can use that you've already paid for?) ABAP RESTful application programming model is the way to build new enhancements on ABAP. That means ABAP has a second life, and I better jump on this train!
SAP has so many tools, and I fear we often end up in the trap of trying to make the one tool that we know do everything, rather than looking at what standard solutions are out there to solve the problem. Honestly, I sometimes wonder if SAP product teams fall into the same trap! But hopefully, this session will explain how we should be using the different tools to get the best experience. I have high hopes – let's see!

My Picks and Why
Road map sessions, for me, are the heart of SAP TechEd. They're a great way to understand and follow the future of the solution. Also, they are a great way to get your questions answered from the expert product owners. I also enjoy hearing other attendee questions.
I attended a similar session at last year’s SAP TechEd and I enjoyed the presentation and questions. Also, from a user group perspective, I’ve seen many customers have questions about the hybrid nature of data warehousing solutions from SAP – this is the place to get your questions answered.
I've seen Irfan Khan present numerous times, and he always brings passion to his presentations. He also makes things (for me) easier to understand. He is the former CTO of Sybase, so he knows all about data from end to end.
Karen Rodrigues has a passion to share her knowledge and support people in their development and professional growth. She has more than 20 years of experience in Brazil localization and taxes. She works frequently with the SAP Document and Reporting Compliance solution and SAP Tax Declaration Framework for Brazil.
My Picks and Why
New regulations emerge all the time and also change over time, and companies need to adapt to them because they are mandatory and require fast adoption. We have seen a trend in electronic business documents that companies need to exchange with the authorities. SAP Document and Reporting Compliance is one global solution that addresses local statutory reporting requirements. I really recommend you check it out!
Discover how your company can benefit from a move to SAP S/4HANA . In this session, you can understand the full potential your company can achieve – including the possible financial benefits you can gain – with an implementation of SAP S/4HANA.
This is an opportunity for the SAP community to learn more about SAP HANA Cloud and the product's strategy as a managed, multitier, multi-cloud, multimodel, consumption-based, and elastically scalable database as a service.
Jutta Villet is a partner operations executive at SAP, co-author of the official book on SAP Fieldglass solutions, and an SAP champion. She is an expert in the implementation of virtual memory systems across industries on a global scale and is a well-versed technical architect as her skill set includes process optimization, intelligent RPA, and integrations between SAP systems. Her passion lies in sustainable innovation for workforce programs bringing technology, people, and procurement together.
My Picks and Why
How much of your day is actual “thinking work” that generates value, and how much time do you spend on routine tasks that could be automated? Exactly! In this workshop, you will learn how to modify or extend business processes with workflows and automate routine tasks with actions or RPA bots. This is a transferrable skill and you can apply it so easily to other common business processes, making a big impact with little effort.
When we speak about the external workforce, one of the most important topics apart from compliance, diversity, and reporting is integrated accounting. So much so that integrations with ERP systems are becoming an ever-growing topic. This session is about SAP S/4HANA as the digital core of your intelligent enterprise and explains how to create real value with your move to SAP S/4HANA. If you want to look at procurement processes and your ERP systems holistically, this is a good start.
With SAP Analytics Cloud, you can access your data across systems to get a coherent data picture of your organization. People, products, financials – all at your fingertips. The best part is that it can be embedded directly into SAP S/4HANA as well as SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Customer Experience, and SAP Digital Supply Chain solutions. I won’t miss this session; I believe that is where the Intelligent Enterprise gets its fuel.
