Muhammed Mushtaq

I’m originally from Lahore, Pakistan, where I was born and grew up. It’s a big, bustling city! In fact, the second largest in the country! I came to Germany in 2012 where I did my Master’s Degree in Computer Science at the University of Konstanz. Currently, I am based in Munich Germany, where I have been living since 2017, after I worked as a Technical QA Engineer in Hamburg.

I started working at SAP in October 2017. As an IT enthusiast, I have known about SAP from when I started my Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Back then I just knew the name of SAP’s pioneering S/4HANA database but not much else. Ultimately, however, that name lead me to SAP.

I decided to apply for a job at SAP because SAP is an IT giant and one of the biggest players in the ERP & cloud software market. I wanted to be a part of something big and SAP’s cloud transformation and impact on the world is something that attracted me the most to the company.

I looked a couple of times at the SAP Careers page and found an opening for a QA engineer. I saw a great opportunity and, without hesitation, went ahead and applied. About 4 weeks later, I got a call from a recruiter and we had a very pleasant conversation. I had a few more standard interviews with the hiring manager and others from the team. Overall the process was quite smooth.

Now I work as a Senior Quality Specialist. I make sure whatever products we release to our customers and partners, meet the SAP quality standards. And I do that by making the best test strategy that complies to our standards. When I first joined SAP, I was so excited but also a little frightened at the same time. Finally my dream was coming true to work for this company and I wanted to do well in my job. Together with my managers and team, we have been able to turn day-to-day challenges into success stories. And this provides me with tremendous confidence when performing my job.

SAP is a highly innovative company. It‘s about coming up with bold new ideas and transforming those ideas into technologies to create new possibilities. SAP encourages employees to share new ideas and gives us the opportunity to present our ideas to the internal board to bring those ideas to life. Design Thinking is another big topic at SAP. It is a unique approach to identify challenges and come up with unique solutions with a focus on human meaning and empathy.

With flexible work schedules, opportunities to work from home, and time off for volunteering activities like Month of Service, it‘s easy to balance my private life and work life. The ability to work remotely and adjust my schedule around my family’s needs help reduce stress. SAP removes barriers so its easy to balance what I love to do inside and outside of work.

For me, success means finding the perfect work-life balance and having a fair chance to climb the leadership ladder. I’m proud to say that SAP has enabled me to achieve this success. SAP provides every opportunity to grow vertically and horizontally within a variety of different organizations and makes sure every employee reaches his or her goal.

We have a great work environment here – every day is a new learning experience with a fantastic culture focused on development. The management life cycle is productive and efficient, which also gave me the opportunity to meet new people and discover more possibilities for me within the organization.

Have you found a job at SAP you’re thinking of applying to? Don't think. Just come on in! The atmosphere is great and I guarantee you won’t regret it.
