As a global softwareleader serving customers of all sizes across 25 industries in countries all over the world, we understandthat our technology can both advance and, if misused, impede human rights.It is therefore our responsibility to mitigate risks and use the power of technology to drive positivechange. This commitment is core to realizing SAP’s purpose: to help the world run better and improvepeople’s lives.1.1 PurposeThe purpose of this Human Rights Commitment Statement is to ensure the respect of human rights atSAP and across SAP’s value chain.1.2 ScopeThe Human Rights Commitment Statement has a global scope; it applies to SAP operations worldwideincluding SAP Deutschland SE & Co. KG. SAP expects all employees and business partners (for example,suppliers, partners, customers) to respect human rights and act in line with global human rightsframeworks.2 Commitment to human rights and fair labor standards At SAP, we are committed to respect and advance human rights across our own operations, extendedsupply chain, and product life cycle. We respect and uphold the values of the International Bill of Human Rights and the InternationalLabour Organization's (ILO) Core Labour Rights Conventions. In addition, we take guidance frominternational frameworks such as the United Nations’ Guiding Principles on Business and HumanRights (UNGPs) and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible BusinessConduct, to integrate human rights considerations into our standard business practices, policies, andprocesses. We are committed to complying with applicable laws in the countries where we operate and sell andhave implemented appropriate systems and processes designed to achieve such compliance. Whereour own policies set requirements that are more protective than applicable law, we seek to followthose requirements to the extent permitted by law. If the implementation of these internationalstandards is restricted by local law, we seek to develop innovative approaches to which we willadhere in our actions regarding the principles proclaimed in the international standards whileremaining cognizant of local requirements.
