The main difference between the two is the level of flexibility and customisation they offer. SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition offers more flexibility and extensibility options, while SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is a defined solution with shared infrastructure and software capabilities.

The basic trial of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is a limited-time 14-day experience that allows you to learn about the cloud ERP’s features and capabilities at no cost and through a shared tenant using sample data. You can explore this live system by using the guided tours or discover the functionality on your own.

You can explore predefined scenarios for sales, procurement, production, project management, finance, and quality inspection. The trial offers a selected and limited functional scope and comes with predefined demo data.

The trial system only offers a selected subset of the overall functionality of S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Key user capabilities like customisation, master data management, or integration with SAP BTP are not offered in this trial.

The trial period is 14 days from the date of registration. When your access is finished, you can simply extend it for another 14-day period by using your existing SAP.com account.

Once the trial period ends, you can extend it again as many times as needed. This gives you more time to explore the different scenarios that SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition offers.
