Putting an eco-social conscience at the heart of its operations

Inspired by the “good winds” of its home in São José do Rio Preto, Brazilian road transport manufacturer Facchini S.A. captures the spirit of change by making agile business decisions. With more than 6,500 employees, 10 factories, an international distribution network, and 35 branches spread across Brazil, Facchini has been defining the manufacture of road equipment for 75 years.

One of the company’s biggest challenges is overcoming the time-consuming, manual process of consolidating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data. Facchini is also facing domestic and international customer demand for sustainability transparency as well as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) mandates impacting its operations in Brazil.

With increasing investments in robotics, automation, and AI, Facchini needed to leverage its existing ERP landscape and embed sustainability into the core of its business processes.

With SAP Sustainability Control Tower, we have integrated diverse metrics—from carbon emissions and material circularity to social indicators such as diversity and inclusion. This allows us to produce sustainability reports in real time, creating a foundation for strategic management decisions.

Integrating sustainability metrics to enhance management decisions

To build a more agile, real-time foundation for strategic management decisions, Facchini implemented the SAP Sustainability Control Tower solution, centralizing ESG metrics while automating data collection and sharing across the company.

By leveraging its existing instance of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition and evolving AI capabilities, the company could enable advanced AI-assisted reporting and decision-making. It could also develop a more predictive strategy that would access a “sustainability memory,” meaning that AI agents could help reporting teams apply learning from past sustainability experiences to help improve future performance. The solution would also consolidate metrics, reduce response times for reports, and enable environmental transparency and corporate governance.

In addition, integrating critical sustainability information directly into SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition would help transform static reports into dynamic indicators accessible in real time.

Following the company’s leadership commitment to sustainability, SAP provided activation services to Facchini, setting up initial metrics and master data while automating financial and sustainability data consolidation.

Accelerating growth responsibly

Consolidating and integrating environmental metrics and social indicators using SAP Sustainability Control Tower accelerates real-time report generation, supports corporate governance, and lays the foundation for a new cycle of innovation at Facchini.

Metrics and KPIs—from carbon emissions and material circularity to social indicators such as diversity and inclusion—can be reported in real time, enabling greater transparency and information governance. Consolidated eco-social data, such as carbon inventory, water consumption, renewable energy use, diversity, inclusion, and workplace safety, can now inform various strategic management decisions. With indicators directly embedded into its ERP systems, Facchini can build sustainability context for AI agents and reporting teams, helping realize the company’s generative and strategic vision, and accelerate growth responsibly.

It can also address and plan for growing domestic and international customer demand for detailed reporting, including the new IFRS sustainability standards alignment starting in 2027.

We are highly focused on becoming more digital, more cognitive, and more sustainable. SAP Sustainability solutions expand our real-time analysis capabilities while strengthening our business strategy with accurate and accessible data.

Creating a green-ledger vision where finance and sustainability coexist

Facchini intends to use embedded AI capabilities in SAP solutions to generate ESG reports and enhance productivity. The more ESG data is incorporated, the faster the reaction time, and the better AI agents can help reporting teams determine the best course of action. The demands of customer trends, market evolution, and IFRS reporting call for robust sustainability commitments, which Facchini is tackling with focused vigor.

The company also plans to use its integrated, real-time sustainability data foundation to support future initiatives such as green bonds and advanced sustainability-linked carbon accounting. The SAP Sustainability Footprint Management solution could serve to automate the company’s current manual carbon-accounting processes. Discussions are under way to implement this and other sustainability solutions, such as the SAP Environment, Health, and Safety Management application.

With these advances in place, Facchini can expand circular economy practices, strengthen its social agenda, and reach its goal of 100% renewable energy use by 2026.
