SAP Business Network’s Expansion of Social
Impact Opportunities
At SAP, we’re using and offering one of the most
powerful tools at our disposal—procurement to drive
sustainability and create meaningful social impact.
Through the SAP Business Network, which connects 4.6
million companies across 190 countries, we facilitate over
$6.2 trillion in annual commerce through more than 778
million B2B transactions.
Now imagine the possibilities if even a small portion of
that spending was directed toward social enterprises-
businesses that prioritize people and the planet. With over
10 million social enterprises globally, SAP has a unique
opportunity to link our customer and CSR ecosystems to
unlock significant investments in sustainable development
that go far beyond traditional philanthropy.
Since launching in November 2023, the SAP Business
Network has recognized verified social enterprises,
growing to over 4,400 by the end of 2024. And we’re not
stopping there. SAP CSR is teaming up with the Business
Network marketing team to encourage even more social
enterprises to join, focusing on regions with robust social
enterprise ecosystems and advancing API integration
with our verification partner SEWF.
But it’s not just about the numbers. By enabling social
enterprises to showcase their credentials on the SAP
Business Network, we’re helping them access global
B2B markets, scale their operations, and make a greater
impact on supply chains worldwide.

Social Procurement Roundtables – USA, India,
Brazil
We are driving a global movement to reimagine
procurement as a force for social and environmental
good, starting with pivotal roundtables in the USA,
India, and Brazil. These gatherings brought together
changemakers from across sectors to kickstart local
initiatives with the potential to inspire systemic
change worldwide.
Purchasing with Purpose USA - Laying the
Foundation for a People- and Planet-First
Economy
In collaboration with Purchasing with Purpose, SAP
hosted a two-day summit to unite public and private
sector leaders. Companies like Zurich, CBRE, Port
of Portland, Deloitte, and Accenture joined forces
with local and national networks to discuss how
procurement can drive meaningful impact.
This roundtable marked the launch of a cross-sector
consortium focused on three industries: Public Sector
Purchasing, Hospitality & Entertainment, and Retail &
Consumer Goods.
It’s the first step in a larger journey to make impact
procurement a standard practice across the U.S.
India - Unlocking the Potential of Corporate
Purchasing
Did you know India’s Companies Act requires
corporations to invest 2% of pre-tax profits into CSR?
While this law has led to demand for social innovation
in some respects, there are still opportunities to
leverage business processes such as procurement
to create social and environmental impact across
the country. As companies are not incentivized to go
beyond this Act, SAP took the first step to gather the
inaugural social procurement summit in Delhi.
Over 40 participants from 29 organizations - including
IKEA, PepsiCo, Jubilant Bhartia, TCS, Hindustan
Unilever Ltd. - came together to explore how
corporate purchasing could create positive social and
environmental change.
As an outcome of this event, SAP collaborated with
Sattva Consulting to develop a report on how leading
companies (European MNCs based in India and
Indian MNCs) are pioneering social procurement,
which was successfully launched at Impact Europe’s
Business of Impact event in the Hague, Netherlands.
