What is the SAP design system?
A design system provides a set of shared design artifacts, such as components and patterns, along with guidance on implementation. The system provides designers and developers foundational information for creating digital products, including design principles, design language, interaction design, and accessibility rules. The SAP design system provides a more consistent experience, along with the highest design quality for all SAP products. A more efficient, visually striking, and inclusive system creates more room for innovation.
What are the principles of the SAP design system?

The design philosophy of the SAP design system is based on five core principles that enable a consistent user experience across products:

  1. Role-based
  2. Adaptive
  3. Simple
  4. Coherent
  5. Delightful
Is SAP Fiori part of the SAP design system?
We use the term SAP design system to describe our approach across all customer touch points. SAP Fiori is part of the SAP design system: it represents the areas that comprise UI components.
Which applications are built with SAP Fiori?
Many applications across SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP Business Suite, and more are already built with SAP Fiori. Using the SAP Fiori Apps reference library, you can find any SAP Fiori app by filtering by product name.
How do I get started with the SAP design system?
You'll find everything you need to get started in the SAP Fiori Design Guidelines. The comprehensive guidelines have everything you need for designing and building for web, iOS, Android, and conversational UIs, including SDKs, toolkits, stencils, and best practices.
What is SAP's mobile user experience?
SAP has adapted the SAP design system for the specific needs of iOS and Android mobile devices. The iOS and Android design guidelines ensure that our mobile apps are easy to use and consistent with the latest evolution of the SAP design system. We build them with our mobile SDKs for iOS and Android, which are also available for you to build great mobile experiences with the same look and feel as SAP apps. They are provided by the SAP Business Technology Platform, which also offers a Mobile Development Kit. This kit allows you to code once and generate both native iOS and Android apps from one codeline, following our mobile design guidelines.
Can I use the SAP design system for free?
Yes, the SAP design system is free for productive use by customers and partner development teams using SAP's UI technologies for developing web-apps as well as native mobile apps. We also provide Figma UI kits for designers.
Where can I find best practices for using the SAP design system?
Join the SAP Community. With over 2 million visitors per month, SAP Community brings SAP users, developers, designers, consultants, mentors, partners, and students together to help, collaborate, share ideas, learn, and connect with each other. Here you can join discussions and explore related topic pages, including the SAP design system and its latest updates.
How can I provide feedback on SAP products?
If you want to help us in our mission to create highly valuable products, we invite you to participate in the SAP User Research Panel. Here, we engage with our end users, conducting user research projects that let us listen to your feedback, challenges, and accomplishments. This helps us steadily improve SAP products and your daily work experience.

What's next for the SAP design system?

The SAP design system is always evolving to meet our users' needs. It's built on insights from our customers to unite SAP's extensive portfolio of software and applications with one exceptional digital experience. More than any one theme, the SAP design system will always include:

  • A modernized design language, including more iterations on the new Horizon themes.
  • Enterprise-ready reusable UI elements and guidelines across a variety of platforms.
  • Education and training for users, partners, and developers working with SAP software and applications.
  • A focus on accessible and inclusive products, so that everyone may use SAP products and applications to get their best work done every day.
  • User research and to allow us to meet the evolving needs of our partners, customers, and end-users.
