SAP Autonomous Enterprise
An Autonomous Enterprise is a business operating model where core processes run themselves end-to-end
using connected data, AI, and automation. It continuously senses signals across systems, decides the next
best action, and executes it—closing the loop with minimal manual intervention. Humans remain in control
through policies, oversight, and explainable decisions, while machines handle routine execution at scale. In
short, it functions like a living operating system for your company: from data to decision to action to learning,
always on and self-improving.
SAP enables this operating model through an integrated set of capabilities that work together to deliver
autonomy across the enterprise.
Key Elements of the Autonomous Enterprise
Together, the following elements form the SAP Autonomous Enterprise:
1. Joule is the engagement layer, bringing together data, workflows, and agents across SAP systems
and beyond.
2. The SAP Autonomous Suite is the operational core of the business. Organized into five
autonomous domains – Finance, Spend, SCM, HCM, and CX – that run every function end-to-end.
Delivered as a modular set of cloud-based offerings, SAP provides a clear and scalable pathway for
customers at every stage of their transformation – whether accelerating growth as a new cloud ERP
customer or modernizing through RISE with SAP as an existing customer. All customers adopt
innovation at their own pace, integrate their landscape more easily, and realize value faster.
3. Industry AI applications bring built-in vertical process knowledge, data models, and regulatory
logic, ensuring autonomous processes are tailored to industry requirements.

4. SAP Business AI Platform – bringing together SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), AI
Foundation, SAP Business Data Cloud, SAP HANA Cloud, and Business Transformation Management
capabilities – forms the foundation for the SAP Autonomous Suite. By combining AI agents, data, and
cloud ERP applications, the platform enables execution of end-to-end business processes across
Autonomous Finance, Autonomous Spend, Autonomous SCM, Autonomous HCM, and Autonomous
CX.
By unifying processes, data, and AI across every business domain, SAP empowers organizations to scale,
innovate, and deliver exceptional outcomes with less complexity.
Licensing Approach
The modular architecture of the SAP Autonomous Enterprise directly shapes how it is licensed and adopted.
The suite is offered as a collection of interoperable offerings designed to support incremental transformation.
Organizations typically begin by licensing a comprehensive offering aligned to a specific business function,
such as Financial Management, known as an Entry Point Offering.
Organizations may start with a single Entry Point Offering and expand their footprint over time, either by
licensing Add-Ons within the same business function or by licensing additional offerings across other
domains. Offerings with AI, data and analytics, transformation, and platform capabilities may also be licensed
and integrated as part of the broader solution landscape, forming the SAP Business AI Platform foundation.
All offerings are designed with interoperability in mind, enabling organizations to license only the
components they need and expand seamlessly as business requirements grow – supporting customers at
every stage of their journey toward the SAP Autonomous Suite.
