Jenni's story

At SAP, we believe that when you bring everything you are, you can become everything you want.

SAP is constantly evolving and innovative company always looking for new ways to support our customers which was important to me.

Jenni Murphy, Head of LoB & GB Marketing

I grew up in Finland, did a gap year in Belgium and settled in the UK to study at Bournemouth University. I now live in South West London with my husband and two daughters. Fortunately I live close to SAP’s Clockhouse Place, UK office where most of my team of ten are based.

In my role as Head of LoB & GB (General Business) Marketing I lead a fantastic team of marketers, from interns to experts. We ensure that we create demand and show the value of our Line of Business Solutions for relevant audiences. Channel marketing also falls under my remit, ensuring we enable and collaborate with our value-added reseller partners and ensure joined up go to market plan.

I have been with SAP for four and a half years having joined as a senior campaign manager. I knew about SAP having worked for a smaller competitor. We always came head-to-head at large exhibitions and I always admired their bold and customer-focused approach. After six months here, I moved into an audience manager role. In both of these roles I gained good experience in campaign execution and stakeholder management within SAP which prepared me for the opportunity to lead the GB and channel marketing after one year. In August 2019 I was promoted to my current leadership role, Head of LoB and Channel Marketing, and have loved every moment so far. To me, success has meant seeing the positive results and business impact my work has, and it is a real motivator for me. Now, as a team leader, success is to see my team thrive, innovate, come up with new concepts and deliver ROI for the organisation.

Throughout my time at SAP I have had valuable coaches and mentors, both formally and informally. I have been fortunate to have strong inspiring leaders and stakeholders, who have given me a wider perspective to the business, believed in me, and helped me grow in my career. As a business, SAP is a constantly evolving and innovative company always looking for new ways to support our customers, and this is very important to me. Equally important is SAP’s flexible and open working culture. As a mother of two children, I must ensure a healthy balance between work and personal life, and it was clear throughout my interviews that the company would not only accommodate but actively encourage that.

In the UK we have many women in senior and mid-level leadership positions, and since joining SAP in 2015, we have constantly improved and moved to even more positive direction with gender equality. Many teams have a mixed balance of both genders, and I have lots of good female friends and colleagues across all departments.

So what would I say to other women looking to join SAP? Go for it! Join the team and be authentic, be yourself. Bring out your ideas, even if they are different. Always collaborate and build a good network of people to work with to ensure the best customer success.
