Motivation
▪ The delivery to BMW is based on the so called ‘SWET’ (“Sollwareneingangstermin” – the time the
goods have to be at the BMW production line). The SWET is sent to the suppliers within the
sequenced JIT calls
▪ The actual production time at the BMW plant can be different due to issues at the BMW production
line
▪ Therefore, BMW sends every 15 minutes the TACHO message with the actual progress of their
production line in comparison to the transmitted SWET times
▪ The TACHO message contains the time difference of the production line and the number of Cars
that are out of sequence
▪ The supplier has to define together with BMW in which way the TACHO information should be used
to control the deliveries to BMW
