Executive Summary
SAP’s aspiration is to become the world’s most inclusive software company. This third edition of the SAP
Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) report shares insights equipped with data on our most impactful initiatives and the
progress we have made towards attaining our goal in 2023.
Our D&I strategy encompasses three pillars: Workforce Diversity, Workplace Inclusion, and Marketplace
Leadership. These pillars guide the systemic inclusion of D&I at all levels across SAP, an inclusive approach
to software product and services design, and the advancement of D&I in the industry together with our
Employee Network Groups (ENGs), partners, and customers.
In 2023, we celebrated ten years of leading autism inclusion, set new gender parity goals, launched our
inaugural Global Diversity Survey with voluntary employee self-identification, and provided more inclusive
experiences to our customers and partners by using our technology. The report includes the collective voices
of some of our 100,000+ employees who are championing our D&I efforts every day to make SAP - and the
world - better for generations to come.
“At SAP, we believe that the feeling of belonging is not just about being
part of something, it's about being able to show up as our authentic
selves. Diversity is a source of strength and innovation, and fostering an
inclusive culture in which everyone feels valued, respected, and included,
is key to SAP's success. An environment where people can be their true
selves and confidently bring their unique perspectives to the table allows
us all to thrive.”
Christian Klein
Chief Executive Officer and member of the Executive Board of SAP SE
A Message from the Chief People Officer
With employees from 157+ nationalities and five generations, D&I is an integral part of SAP’s DNA. It sits at the
heart of our people strategy and global workplace culture. Embracing D&I makes us more creative,
innovative, and brings out the best in us. While we want to be the best possible version of ourselves, our
aspirations for D&I go beyond SAP. To create a larger impact in a transparent manner, we have embedded
D&I into our sustainability efforts and report our progress annually in our D&I Report as well as our Integrated
Report.
We believe that a diverse and inclusive work culture, where everyone can be their authentic self, leads to
positive change in business and society. This change is powered by human-centered technology innovation.
Using an inclusive lens to design processes, products, and services can create equal opportunities and drive
socioeconomic growth for all.
Looking into the future, the commitment to D&I will become even more important because we increasingly
see ourselves in an artificial intelligence-powered work environment. Artificial Intelligence (AI) creates more
opportunities by removing bias in hiring and career development processes, and also heightens the need for
a sense of belonging in a fast-evolving workplace.
Our deep commitment to D&I serves as an anchor for the digital transformation of the global workplace and
makes SAP better for generations to come.

A Message from the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer
I am pleased to share our third annual progress update on our mission to become the world’s most inclusive
software company and deepen the commitment to D&I in the industry together with our customers and
partners.
2023 was a challenging year for all of us, due to growing geopolitical uncertainties, unrest, and suffering in
many parts of the world. These challenges underscored the growing leadership responsibility of D&I at the
workplace and in the communities we serve. Our unwavering commitment to our D&I values has become
even more crucial to help employees navigate changes and create a safe space where they have a sense of
belonging in all circumstances.
We steadfastly continued to focus on increasing balance in our representation numbers, enhancing inclusion
for all by strengthening the muscle of inclusion through practical learning, supporting our employees on a
daily basis with our ENGs, active listening, and proactive caring initiatives. Reflective of our efforts, our
employees gave us a 92% positive rating for our D&I strategy and initiatives.
2023 was a year distinguished by some important milestones. We celebrated the tenth anniversary of our
industry-leading Autism at Work program, which was recognized as a Lighthouse Program for DEI by the
World Economic Forum and received the Corporate Compassion Award from the HollyRod Foundation for its
global impact on autism inclusion. We also celebrated 20+ years of advancing LGBTQIAA+ (people of all
genders and sexualities, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer, intersex, asexual,
pansexual, and allies) inclusion and 15+ years of women empowerment with new achievements. This inspired
us to further broaden and deepen our definition of diversity.
It was also the year in which we launched our Global Anonymous Self-Identification Diversity Survey with
voluntary employee self-identification. This marks an important step in the evolution of D&I at SAP. The
survey data tells a powerful story of our multidimensional workforce.
I am thrilled to share that our D&I strategy has become the ethical foundation and inspiration to drive
technology innovation with an inclusive perspective for our customers to adapt to an AI-empowered
workplace. As a responsible organization, we are embedding a D&I lens into all that we build and offer. I
