1INTERNAL – SAP Only (delete if public)City of Saskatoon: Making the City agreat place to live, work, learn, and playThe City Council and Administration of Saskatoon, a city in Canada’s Saskatchewan province,delivers a strategic plan every five years to make it an even better place for its residents to live.Included in the portfolio of projects was a drive for business transformation to enable smootheradministration of the City and, in turn, improved interactions with its residents.The municipality delivers public services across 14 business lines, ranging from culture, events,and emergency and transportation services to urban planning and asset management. As theCity grew, so too did the number of different systems, processes, and employees needed tomanage these areas. The organization wanted to modernize and adopt a “one city” approachthat would allow it to integrate processes and run as one business system to serve residentsmore efficiently.

3INTERNAL – SAP Only (delete if public)Delivering a comprehensive change management program toaccompany process centralizationWith multiple business areas using up to 300 different systems, the City of Saskatoon wantedto modernize and standardize its health and safety processes. The team began by deployingthe SAP S/4HANA Finance solution to integrate payroll and accounting processes, severalSAP SuccessFactors solutions (such as the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central andSAP SuccessFactors Recruiting solutions), and the SAP Time and Attendance Managementapplication by WorkForce Software. Most recently, the City centralized enterprise health andsafety and labor relations with the Sodales for Enterprise Health, Safety, and EmployeeRelations by Sodales Solutions Inc., an SAP endorsed app.The organization successfully conducted a change management program for the Sodalessoftware. Rather than a simultaneous City-wide implementation, the software was deployedone department at a time. There was also brainstorming and hands-on training about thefunctionalities to gather and act on feedback. The team ensured current modules are well usedand received before adding more capabilities. It’s also setting expectations for enhancementrequests, given the extra resources needed for cloud software upgrades. And the organizationis sharing positive testimonials from internal stakeholders to help build buy-in.
