Open-pit mining is complex and high risk, mandating extensive worker training and compliance documentation. Gathering credentials requires comprehensive partner training, otherwise workers could arrive on-site without the right paperwork. To meet this challenge, CITIC Pacific Mining built a document management system using SAP SuccessFactors and SAP Business Technology Platform that automates the workflow for managing compliance records. CITIC has improved worker safety, saved at least 200 days in training time, and expects to achieve a full return on its investment within the first six months.
