On-demand learning modules
now available to employees, even
on mobile devices
Permanent positions recruited using
SAP SuccessFactors in 2022, during the
greatest talent shortage in 50 years
GrainCorp Limited

To keep up with the increasing demands of
employees, as well as empower business leaders to
make decisions based on real-time employee data,
GrainCorp eyed a digital HR transformation. The
company lacked a centralized, consistent source of
truth for employee data. It relied on many outdated,
paper-based processes throughout the employee
lifecycle. Due to the nature of GrainCorp’s business,
it needed technology that could scale and keep up
with its needs during peak and temporary hiring
seasons, during which the company would need to
onboard as many as 4,000 seasonal workers.
GrainCorp implemented the SAP SuccessFactors
Employee Central, SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting,
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding, SAP SuccessFactors
Learning, SAP SuccessFactors Performance &
Goals, SAP SuccessFactors Compensation, and
SAP SuccessFactors Succession & Development
solutions. These solutions integrated with the
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll
solution, which was already in use.
Branded as “PeopleHub” at GrainCorp, the suite of
SAP SuccessFactors solutions has transformed HR
for the company’s international operations. Now,
1,934 employees and up to 4,000 seasonal workers
can tap into self-services for their HR needs, such as
updating their personal information. On-demand
training modules in SAP SuccessFactors Learning
have helped the company save A$1 million by
eliminating specific kinds of in-person training days.
The most significant benefit for GrainCorp is the
ability to use real-time data for people metrics,
analytics, and insights to drive decision-making.

GLOBAL CHALLENGES BUSINESS CHALLENGES
Challenges and Objectives 1 of 2

To achieve GrainCorp’s purpose of “proudly connecting with
customers and rural communities to deliver value through innovation
and expertise” and to provide for 350 global customers, the company
needs top talent dedicated to fulfilling its mission. However, GrainCorp
didn’t have the modern HR software that could create outstanding
experiences that attract employees. Its outdated recruiting and
onboarding processes risked losing job candidates early on. In
addition, at the time the company started thinking about transforming
HR, the global talent shortage was ramping up. GrainCorp knew
it needed technology that could offer a modern and seamless
employee experience from job application throughout the lifecycle,
in addition to having access to real-time data and analytics.
Employees performing HR tasks throughout the employee
lifecycle, from onboarding or updating their personal information
all the way to offboarding in retirement, were faced with outdated,
paper-based processes. HR experts and business leaders were
limited in their ability to access data for decision-making or to
empower employees. They had to use complex platforms, with
no self-service functionality.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES WHY SAP
Challenges and Objectives 2 of 2
6
GrainCorp decided to invest in HR technology. The company
believed the right HR software could empower employees to reach
their professional goals and thrive at GrainCorp. It also hoped
introducing a centralized platform for HR, enhanced by additional
HR solutions for analytics and other business needs, would give
leaders access to the data insights they need every day.
Because GrainCorp was already using SAP SuccessFactors
Employee Central Payroll, it decided to implement other
SAP SuccessFactors solutions to make the most of their
functionality and integrations.
