GLOBAL CHALLENGES BUSINESS CHALLENGESChallenges and Objectives 1 of 2© 2023 SAP SE or an SAP affiliate company. All rights reserved | PUBLIC 6SSP faces complex challenges across both the travel andhospitality sectors. Economic uncertainties, geopolitical tensions, and the lingering impact of global health crises, such as theCOVID-19 pandemic, disrupt both sectors. Stricter regulations, visarestrictions, and evolving government policies affect internationaltravel and hospitality operations alike. The rapid evolution oftechnology demands constant adaptation, as both industriesnavigate the dynamic online landscape, address cybersecurityconcerns, and embrace innovative solutions. Environmentalsustainability is a shared concern, requiring both travel andhospitality businesses to implement eco-friendly practices. Meetingdiverse customer expectations remains a perpetual challenge, necessitating a delicate balance between personalized experiencesand cost efficiency in both realms. Recruitment and retention volumes: need to rebuild staffinglevels during COVID 19 recovery, plus high staff turnover inmany countries: “running flat out to stand still”. Inefficiencies: Heavily reliant on paper-based processes, when our Millennial workforce have only ever experiencedmobile, digital, App based ways of working. There was a needto provide simple and clear access to our employees own data People Data: No visibility or control of our worldwide “PeopleData” (headcount, hierarchy, structures). Local Systems: Patchwork of isolated local systems In 38countries (& growing). Challenges to meet local legislativerequirements and “standing up” new locations at pace. Somelocal solutions unstable and nearing end of life. Compliance: Increasing importance of Compliance Trainingand assurance obligations.
