• We deliver the best F&B experience in travel by supplying food, beverage and other
consumables with integrity and in a sustainable way and by providing operational
excellence and superior customer service.

Increase in candidate applications for
vacancies
Reduction in time from candidate selection
to contract being signed
Adoption rate of front line colleagues, with
75% of these via SuccessFactors mobile
App
+62%
Select service partners PLC
-66% 80%
SSP had limited visibility globally of our People Data -
headcount, hierarchy, structures and we were rebuilding
staffing levels during COVID 19 recovery, plus (during
BAU). Typically in the sector there is high staff turnover
in many countries
We were mostly reliant on paper based processes, when
our Millennial workforce have only ever experienced
mobile, digital, App based ways of working.
We have placed an increasing importance of colleague
training, life cycle and succession planning.
There were many different people systems and ways of
working across our 38 countries (& growing).
SAP Employee Central and SAP SuccessFactors
Recruiting and Onboarding have been rolled out to 20k
employees worldwide in 2023, with a further 20k
employees gaining access to the applications in 2024.
SAP SuccessFactors Payroll has been implemented into
the US and Canada and the UK in 2024.
SAP Learning, SAP Succession & Development, SAP
SuccessFactors Talent Management and reward
modules will be rolled out worldwide in 2024
The global implementation of SAP SuccessFactors
allows our employees much greater visibility of their data
and their employee lifecycle.
With a more consistent way of working worldwide, it
allows our leaders, people teams and employees easier
access to data and better decision making.
Together with the introduction of communities of practice
across our business means that we can leverage
knowledge and best practice across all 30 countries that
we operate in, using one overall application to drive
solutions.

Effective People
Effective People (EP) has been involved from the outset of our journey.
Their role has been the main implementation partner and centre of expertise for the SAP
SuccessFactors solution and generally bringing our requirements to solution reality.
EP used their methodology and experience to effectively and accurately assist SSP to arrive at the
design and build, and also advise SSP on the optimal sequencing of critical tasks and rollout.
Their management of the program tasks, in close collaboration with SSP, ensured a confident and
robust program that handled well the significant complexity and size of this initiative.
Organisationally, the close partnership with EP meant that each workstream had owners and teams
that worked lock-step to good effect. EP provided 40+ experts throughout our journey, led by an
experienced project management team, across technical, functional, and procedural areas that
were pivotal to the SSP business case. This included deep module expertise in SAP
SuccessFactors Employee Central, Recruiting, Onboarding, IAS/IPS, Reporting, Integration
Development, and Data Migration.

GLOBAL CHALLENGES BUSINESS CHALLENGES
Challenges and Objectives 1 of 2
© 2023 SAP SE or an SAP affiliate company. All rights reserved | PUBLIC 6
SSP faces complex challenges across both the travel and
hospitality sectors. Economic uncertainties, geopolitical tensions,
and the lingering impact of global health crises, such as the
COVID-19 pandemic, disrupt both sectors. Stricter regulations, visa
restrictions, and evolving government policies affect international
travel and hospitality operations alike. The rapid evolution of
technology demands constant adaptation, as both industries
navigate the dynamic online landscape, address cybersecurity
concerns, and embrace innovative solutions. Environmental
sustainability is a shared concern, requiring both travel and
hospitality businesses to implement eco-friendly practices. Meeting
diverse customer expectations remains a perpetual challenge,
necessitating a delicate balance between personalized experiences
and cost efficiency in both realms.
• Recruitment and retention volumes: need to rebuild staffing
levels during COVID 19 recovery, plus high staff turnover in
many countries: “running flat out to stand still”.
• Inefficiencies: Heavily reliant on paper-based processes,
when our Millennial workforce have only ever experienced
mobile, digital, App based ways of working. There was a need
to provide simple and clear access to our employees own data
• People Data: No visibility or control of our worldwide “People
Data” (headcount, hierarchy, structures).
• Local Systems: Patchwork of isolated local systems In 38
countries (& growing). Challenges to meet local legislative
requirements and “standing up” new locations at pace. Some
local solutions unstable and nearing end of life.
• Compliance: Increasing importance of Compliance Training
and assurance obligations.
