This getting started paper contains important information for your initial log-on to SAP
Master Data Governance, cloud edition on SAP Business Technology Platform. Make sure
to read the instructions prior to your initial log on.
1. Basic information
Business processes and enterprise analytics depend on consistent and reliable data. This holds true for all
economies, even more so in times of change and instability like we are facing now. SAP Master Data
Governance on S/4HANA is our proven master data management solution that helps our customers run their
business based on high-quality data. It is available as an on-premise and private-cloud offering. Now we
extended SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) with an additional deployment option: SAP Master Data
Governance, cloud edition. This complementary solution governs core (that is, application-agnostic) master
data attributes based on SAP One Domain Model and is planned to use SAP Master Data Integration for
sharing master data across hybrid landscapes. Application-specific master data attributes are in the realm of
de-central applications. This allows for a modular master data management approach which ensures that
master data is governed where it is best understood.
Initially, SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition focuses on Business Partner data.
SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition provides fast time to value and is planned as a low entry point
for new SAP MDG customers while offering a non-disruptive deployment option for existing SAP MDG
implementations to build a more granular system network for master data management.
1.1. Information about service plans
We offer SAP Master Data Governance via different service plans:
1. Standard
This plan is a productive plan to support the operative business.
Unique Identifier: mdgce-standard
Region Names: cf-eu10, cf-us10, cf-eu11
2. Test
This plan is also a productive plan but shall be used only for testing.
Unique Identifier: mdgce-test
Region Names: cf-eu10
3. Free
This plan is a non-productive plan which comes without fees but with some restrictions.

4. Demo
This plan is for test and demo purposes only. No productive use is permitted.

1.2. General information about Free Tier Plan
The free tier plan is only available on consumption licenses, i.e. PAYG or CPEA. If you have opted for any of
the license models you are eligible to use the free tier, and the options show up in your BTP global account.
Free tier services allow you to try out a growing selection of SAP BTP services free of charge with specified
limitations for each service. For more information about the free tier service plans and their capacity limits,
see Discovery Center.
With the free tier version, we would like to invite you to get a first glance and hands-on experience. Please
note that this free tier comes with some restrictions:
1. MDG CE free tier offering is restricted to 1 block of business partners, you can only create or import
business partners if the total number of business partners in the system does not exceed 5000. Once
this limit is reached, you must switch to a paid plan.
2. The number of total processes allowed in the free tier system isn’t restricted, but the number of business
partner records in process tables is limited to 10000. Once you reach this limit, you can’t create any
further processes until you close or delete open processes or switch to a paid plan.
3. The upload via spreadsheet is limited to 5000 business partners overall. Once you reach this limit, you
can’t upload any spreadsheet until you switch to a paid plan.
4. MDI integration is actively prevented.
If you want to try out the integration, the test and evaluation agreement (plan ‘testing’) can be used
instead of Free Tier.
The functional scope of the free tier version of SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition is not restricted;
you can use the full functionality like in the productive service plans.
Note: For each customer only one Free Tier account is possible.

and Pay-As-You-Go for SAP BTP.
