Intro

The SAP Fiori design guidelines define universal rules for the SAP Fiori design language, ensuring a minimum level of consistency across all products.

Depending on your product, you may also need to follow additional guidelines that detail out how SAP Fiori is being applied in your solution space. This page contains product-specific guidelines that apply on top of the general SAP Fiori design guidelines.

The S/4HANA Application Cross-Consistency Rules (CC rules) were established by S/4HANA UX Design in alignment with the SAP Design UX team to ensure a consistent user experience across all S/4HANA applications built with SAPUI5. With these rules, we want to address issues that have led to inconsistencies in the interaction, navigation, terminology, or visual design.

The consistency rules are binding for all S/4HANA and S/4HANA Cloud applications, starting with release 1802. Compliance with the consistency rules will be a prerequisite for passing design gates.

Scope

The initial rule set covers ~35 issues. To maximize the benefits of harmonization, we focused on:

Explanation

The consistency rules explain how to handle each issue, and indicate the development effort involved.

In some cases, the rules just reiterate existing rules in the SAP Fiori design guidelines. In other cases, they offer more specific guidance for S/4HANA.

information
When designing and developing S/4HANA apps, always make sure you are working with the latest version of the consistency rules.

Applying the Rules

New apps

S/4HANA developers and UX designers must take the consistency rules into account for all new app development starting from release 1802.

What about existing apps?

An ongoing effort to apply the consistency rules to existing apps is expected.

When should I start?

LoBs should start investing in the corresponding areas to achieve a consistent user experience in 1802 and future releases.

New Rules

Improving cross consistency in S4/HANA is a continuous effort, and we are already working on additional rules. If you see consistency issues and have proposals for additional rules, please contact Kerstin Blum.
