FAQs

How can I tell if I’m viewing the internal or external version of the guidelines?

Check the appearance of the avatar on the top right of the screen.

To see the internal view, click the user profile icon :icon-person-placeholder on the top right to log in via SAP Universal ID.

External view before login – Avatar symbol

Internal view after login – User profile

If the avatar doesn’t switch to your user profile, you may need to clear your user cache and try again.

We strongly recommend using the internal view, which contains additional information and resources not available in the external version – including the latest designs for AI and Joule.

Remember that if you clear your browser cache, you’ll need to log in to the guidelines again to see the internal version.

Where did the former SAP Fiori Design Guidelines go?

The SAP Fiori Design Guidelines are now the all-encompassing SAP Design System Guidelines. All the content you use and rely upon can be found in the new experience, either via the homepage (direct links right to web, mobile, digital specific guidelines), or the side bar navigation within the system guidelines. You can also toggle between web, mobile, and digital design using the top menu navigation.

The old URLs (experience.sap.com/internal/fiori-design and experience.sap.com/fiori-design) redirect to the new portal site (sap.com/design-system).

How do I know what version I am using?
The portal will default to the latest release, which will be noted at the top right corner of the guidelines page. If you’ve navigated to a different version, the version identifier will change.
What are long-term support versions?
All older guidelines have been condensed into 6 long-term support versions. Each long-term version contains all the updates since the previous long-term version. You’ll still be able to find the same guidelines, but you’ll always see the latest consolidated content for the long-term version, rather than several smaller updates.
How do I find the version I need for reference?
You can see how past versions map to the long-term support versions in this chart.
How does the guideline version numbering system work?
The guideline version numbering is based on the version numbers for the SAPUI5 framework. The long-term support versions are aligned with the SAPUI5 long-term maintenance versions.
I work with SAP Web Components. How do I find the right web component guideline version?
For SAP Web Components, we recommend using the “Latest” guideline version.
