Accessibility and Inclusive Design

Let’s get one thing straight: accessibility isn’t just a checkbox. It’s about people. Real people, with different needs, using the products you build every day.

That’s why I’m here to help you add accessibility into your work from the start. Whether you’re designing a button, writing a label, or building a whole layout, your choices can either create barriers… or remove them.

Accessibility is a shared responsibility. It’s not just for designers or developers, it’s for everyone. And when we get it right, we make things better for all users, not just those with visible needs.

In this journey, I’ll show you what to look out for, how to spot common issues, and how to build with inclusion in mind one small action at a time.

Let’s make accessibility a natural part of how we build. Ready?

Accessibility at SAP refers to the possibility for everyone, including and especially people with disabilities, to access and use technology and information products.

SAP Product Standard Accessibility

SAP Product Standard Accessibility serves a dual purpose: to prioritize accessibility and cater to the needs of all users while maintaining a balance between product development efforts and compliance with legal market requirements.

It is designed to foster the development of globally competitive products that excel in accessibility and inclusivity. It emphasizes the importance of meeting all users' diverse needs and addresses the market's legal obligations and demands. By balancing innovation and compliance, the Standard ensures that our products meet both accessibility standards and market requirements.

UX Consistency & Product Standards

Consistency isn’t just a design goal, it’s the job of the SAP Design System and this makes it my job. I make sure SAP products feel familiar, no matter the team, technology, or business area behind them.

A unified experience helps users work faster, reduces support needs, and lowers development costs. That’s why I provide clear, practical standards that teams can apply across the board for better products, and happier users.

A consistent user experience across SAP’s product portfolio isn’t just a design ideal - it’s a core requirement. Consistency enhances usability, speeds up learning, and reduces the need for training and support. It also leads to more efficient development and lower maintenance costs. As a result, the customers increasingly expect a unified and seamless experience across all SAP products.

These standards address that need by focusing on a set of practical, high-impact measures that can be applied broadly - regardless of the underlying technology or business domain.
