SAP Design System Academy / Foundations / Accessibility

Intro

Accessibility refers to the possibility for everyone, including and especially for people with disabilities, to access and use information and communication technology. It is an integral part of the SAP Design System and SAPUI5.

Our Accessibility colleagues have created an immense amount of trainings for different aspects of inclusive design. You are welcome to discover all the different aspects of accessibility within the SAP Design System.

Requirements by Persona

Training level: Beginner

Personas are a design method to support the understanding of use cases and to create mnemonics to make it easier to remember who a use case is designed for. From an accessibility point of view, this is a great method to create impressions of users and the requirements of those users for modern, sustainably and comprehensively well-designed software products.

SAP Accessibility Annotations

Training level: Intermediate

Accessibility assets for Figma have been created as part of the SAP Accessibility Library for Figma. Using these assets, a designer can annotate aspects like keyboard navigation (e.g. initial focus, tab order, branching of navigation), screen reader (e.g. landmarks, page titles, descriptions), and other aspects (e.g. tooltips, time limits, refresh). Each of the eight trainings explains a specific aspect of accessibility: The corresponding assets, what they mean, how to use them, and the benefit for the end user.
