AI Notice
Intro
An AI notice informs users when content is AI-generated, reminding them to double-check its accuracy. It should be displayed whenever users engage in AI-related activities, such as receiving AI recommendations or generating AI-driven content. Providing an AI notice is pivotal for achieving transparency and building trust when incorporating AI into product experiences.

Usage
Do
- Use an AI notice to inform the user where content is AI-generated on a page.
- Use an AI notice for components or pages that contain AI-generated content.
Don't
- Don’t use an AI notice when text is created without AI involvement.
- Don’t use an AI notice for authenticated user input, legally binding actions, and attachment handling.
- AI notice is available for all form cells that can contain AI-generated content.
- Use recommended AI service names and stay consistent across the app.
- Use the same verb for the same type of form cells. For example, for text inputs, use “Created with AI”. For list picker form cells, switch form cells, and picker form cells, use “Suggested by AI”.
- Avoid overwhelming users with excessive AI notice usage; balance transparency and user experience.
- Assess the risk posed by inaccurate or misleading AI-generated content in a given context, and consider adding optional text (“Verify before use”) for high-risk use cases that require manual user input, contain destructive or critical information, or trigger irreversible actions. These may also involve or affect individuals or organizations outside the current user.
- For low-risk use cases, provide summaries or recommendations. These would typically involve or affect only the current user.
Anatomy
A. AI Notice
Displays underneath the helper text. If there is no helper text, AI notice displays in the helper text area.
B. Verification Text (Optional)
Recommends user verification in cases of high risk, where inaccurate or misleading AI-generated content may be particularly harmful to the user.
C. Additional Disclosure (Optional)
Exposes more information about the AI technology used to generate the content. Depending on the use case, this may lead to a bottom sheet or to a browser page.

Behavior and Interaction
For pages with three or fewer AI-generated fields, use the interactive AI notice underneath each field. Users can tap the hyperlink to learn more about the AI technology, including data usage, privacy, and potential risks.
The content and its container can be defined by the app. Tapping on the additional disclosure, whether located in a page-level banner or within an AI notice, directs the user to a designated destination, such as a bottom sheet, with more information about the AI technology used to populate the form fields.
Tapping on disclosure leads to a bottom sheet
When there are more than three AI-generated fields on a page, display a non-sticky banner along with non-interactive AI notices underneath each field. Users can tap the “Learn more” button on the banner to access more information about the AI features.

Variations
Interactiveness
Non-interactive AI notices with a page-level banner or interactive AI notices are used to inform users when there are AI-generated fields.
If there are three or fewer AI-generated fields on a page, an interactive AI notice is used underneath each AI-generated field.
Text Variants
An AI notice is displayed as helper text below form cells if they contain AI content.
An AI notice displaying “Created with AI” indicates that some or all of the content is AI-generated. The AI content can be triggered through a conversational experience or by a local action embedded in the main screen.
An AI notice displaying “Suggested by AI” indicates that the content is recommended by AI, but the content may be drawn from a data source other than AI.
If a third-party AI service is embedded, qualify reference the AI source by adding a prefix.
