Intro

A Likert scale presents a set of ordered response options that users can select to indicate their level of agreement, satisfaction, or sentiment, and is used in Joule to capture structured user feedback within conversational flows.

Usage

Do

  • Use a Likert scale when measuring attitudes, sentiment, or subjective feedback.
  • Use clear, plain-language labels that are easy to understand at a glance.
  • Consider the cognitive load when choosing the number of scale points.

Don't

  • Don’t use vague or ambiguous labels that users may interpret differently.
  • Don’t use a Likert scale for binary decisions where a single choice is sufficient.
