How to Use This Guide / Product Standards
Intro
Product Standards (PS) define software qualities which need to be fulfilled by all SAP products to enable SAP‘s business model. To do so, product standards define requirements to enable selling SAP products worldwide, efficient support, reaching all kinds of users, mitigating risk of lawsuits, up- and cross-selling into existing customer landscapes, and so on. SAP has integrated Product Standards into the development process to achieve transparency about SAP products’ qualities.
Product teams have to deliver reports on the implementation status of Product Standards in Sirius. Sirius is a tool for program management and quality assurance, which enables multiple parallel or subsequent deliveries in one program.
In this guide, we’ll focus on three Product Standards: the Product Standard Accessibility, the Product Standard User Assistance, and the Product Standard UX Consistency.

Product Standard Accessibility
Accessibility refers to the possibility for the widest possible range of people , including and especially people with disabilities, to access and use technology and information products. SAP ensures the accessibility of the products via the “Product Standard Accessibility”. The status of each SAP product concerning accessibility is documented, the status documents are handed out to customers on request.

Product Standard User Assistance
User assistance is an integral part of the customer experience. It covers UI text, embedded help, documentation on SAP Help Portal, and multimedia. This content is provided together with the software (same time, same version). User assistance is important for SAP’s integration strategy and a consistent user experience – in other words, for market success.
Below, you’ll find a table with summaries of the most important aspects of each PS UA dimension.

Product Standard User Experience Consistency
Consistency is an important aspect of User Experience Design and refers to the usage of similar elements and design patterns throughout a product, an application, or a range of applications. Ultimately, it creates a coherent and unified look and feel, which makes it easier to understand and to interact with a product. When elements and patterns look and behave the same, users can develop a mental model of how products work, which reduces the mental load and enables users to interact confidently with a range of products.
The goal of the Product Standard UX Consistency (PS UXC) is to improve the consistency of the user experience across our product portfolio. It focuses on a subset of impactful measures that can be applied across products independent of technology and domain.
Below, you’ll find a table with summaries of the most important aspects of each PS UXC dimension.
