This chapter summarizes the tasks that need to be performed when integrating the service with another system outside SAP BTP, such as SAP S/4 HANA on-premise system or SAP S/4 HANA Cloud.
Basic Considerations
The following questions might help you when collecting information for this chapter:
- Can the service be connected to another system that resides outside the SAP BTP? Is the connection mandatory or optional?
- Is the service integrated inbound or outbound from the target system point of view?
- Are there any steps the administrator has to configure on the service side for setting up the connection? What are steps to be performed in the target system? Clearly distinguish between these two aspects when describing the connection tasks.
- If the service can be connected to an SAP on-premise system (such as S/4 HANA):
- To which on-premise version or releases of the on-premise system can the service be connected to?
- Does the administrator or developer have to ensure that the Cloud Connector is already implemented in the on-premise system landscape to be able to connect the service?
- How does the administrator have to configure the Cloud Connector to set up the connection to the service?
- If the service can be connected to an S/4 HANA Cloud system:
- Is the connection with S/4 HANA Cloud set up according to Communication Management? What is the exact process the administrator has to follow?
Usage of Multiple Topics: for Multiple Systems
If your service can be integrated with multiple systems, provide a section/root topic called "Integration". Create subtopics for each system the service has to or can be integrated with and specify the system name in the topic title (such as "Integrating with SAP S/4 HANA Cloud").
- Integrating with SAP S/4 HANA
- Integrating with SAP S/4 HANA Cloud
- Integrating with SAP Ariba
Usage of a Single Topic: For a Single System
If you have integration content relevant for only one system, name your section topic Integrating with <System Name> and place your content directly in the section topic.
Usage of Graphics
If the integration is complex, include a graphic illustrating the architecture of the integration.
Topic Content
Prerequisites
List the prerequisites that have to be fulfilled before the administrator can start to perform integration tasks.
Integration with an system:
- List the SAP product and its versions of the service can be integrated with.
- If the Cloud Connector has to be available in the on-premise system landscape, list the Cloud Connector as a prerequisite. The Cloud Connector only has to be available once in the system landscape and might therefore be already in place.
Steps/Procedure
List the steps the administrator has to perform in order to set up the integration.
Clearly distinguish between configuration tasks to be performed on BTP and tasks to be performed in the target system. Provide a section with a list of tasks for each of these locations (BTP and target system). Always state the exact location where a task has to be performed.
