Simple graphics are used in documents to visualize information that is better consumable in visual form such as process diagrams, architecture diagrams, etc.

Getting Started

• Simple graphics don't require specific graphic tools. They can be produced with MS PowerPoint or MS Visio. Both tools are also supported by Ixiasoft and for both tools we provide templates. You can find the template for PowerPoint here.
• The UA curriculum offers the course ZDIGRA which covers the basic principles of simple graphics and TAM graphics

Guidelines

Consistency

Whichever elements you decide to include in your graphic, try to use them consistently and don’t mix too many different elements. Don't use too many different colors and try to stick to SAP colors. the Reduce white space as much as possible. You can find approved shapes in the respective graphic guides.

Alignment

Align the shapes in your graphic. Aligned elements look more professional and the graphic will look tidier. You can do this by hand or use the Arrange function in Power Point.

If you want to align the elements horizontally, do the following:

• Select all elements.
• In the Drawing section of the Home tab, choose Arrange → Align → Align Top (or Middle or Bottom).
• Keep the elements selected and choose Arrange → Distribute → Distribute Horizontally.

Afterwards, the elements should look like this:

If you want to align the elements horizontally as well as vertically, follow the steps below:

• Align and distribute all elements of one row as described above.
• Select all elements in one row and group them.
• Select all grouped elements and choose Arrange → Distribute → Distribute Vertically.

Icons

The SAP Icon Font, which you can download here, is a large collection of icons. You can use these to visualize roles, hardware and more. They behave like characters so you can change their size and color.
