Consistent Terminology
There is SAP-wide terminology, and terminology processes, that you must adhere to. By defining, using, and promoting consistent terminology, you are laying the foundation for effective communication.
Look up terminology
At SAP, terminology is stored in .SAPterm is the SAP terminology database and covers the source languages, U.S. English and German, as well as about 50 other target languages. It contains terms, definitions, invalid synonyms, invalid spellings, context, and source information.
To access SAPterm, use the Web Access http://sapterm.com/ (public) or use SAP Logon on your desktop and connect to the STM system. See Access SAPterm.
In addition to the SAP BTP glossary, some SAP BTP products also publish their own glossaries on SAP Help Portal, for example:
Define terminology and enter it in SAPterm
Research terminology with subject matter experts and review your terms with all stakeholders. Do not invent your own terms and do not use SAP or other jargon. Make sure that everybody in your product team uses consistent terminology.
To create and change terminology, connect to the STM system using the SAP Logon on your desktop.

Apply the controlled vocabulary
The controlled vocabulary is a list of preferred words that we recommend using in your user assistance deliverables. Using words for actions in a standard way across products makes the end-to-end user experience consistent for user workflows that embrace multiple products.

Product Names
The names we choose for our products must be a clear, approachable articulation of what we offer, thus helping our audiences understand exactly how we can meet their needs. We use a descriptive approach with the naming of our products and services as subsets of the umbrella SAP brand. In addition, we make sure that the naming of any program, initiative, event, campaign, organization or special project supports our brand promise and purpose.
Requesting an official name
The official naming process is managed through the Naming Center to ensure that we approve the best name possible. If you're planning to introduce a new product name, involve the naming team as early as possible. See Naming Guidelines for guidance on the process you need to follow for choosing product names and names for new tools or components.
Referring to Product Names
See the Approved Names entry of a product for information about the descriptor and usage of a product name, for example:
